3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Intense, sweet aroma with malt and dark fruits. Remote notes of alcohol bordering terpentine, but not quite hitting it. Okay, but quite cloying. Flavour is sugary sweet with dark fruits. Full-bodied. Notes of brandy and slightly of vermouth. Finish is sugary sweet as well and with some notes of alcohol. More outspoken notes of vermouth here. Overall quite interesting and well-made; although the alcohol was present, it wasn’t close to revealing how high the percentage really was. But quickly becomes cloying. 12.09.10.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very small yellowish head, short lived, over clear pale amber beer. Dry grapey US hops’ nose, bit of bananaester, and extremely perfumed, as rosewater. Quite sweet, again perfumed as rosewater, but also with the characteristic benzene-like aroma of sake, fortified. Syrupy, but not too much; very alcoholic. Hops all but gone, tastewise. Fiery alcoholburn/warming; slick to oily viscous. Indeed a succesfull interbreed between beer and sake. Not one to take lightly.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Alko Arkadia - A very special kind of beer. Appearance is dark yet clear and copper-like coloured with minimal head. Taste reminds me of barley wines, but overall it isn’t nearly as sweet as most of them, even though it has some exotic fruitness and salty spiciness . Alcohol warms quite nicely but also dominates the taste a bit too much. Overall quite an exotic experience, and certainly a bottle you want to enjoy for as long as possible.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. A layer of tiny blond bubbles resting on a bright and shiny, reddish amber body. Clean aroma of fruit-cocktail, fresh yeast and alcohol. The fruitiness is surprisingly fresh and vivid. Notes of mild spices. Taste is sweet in a gentle way, with lots of inviting fruitiness and warming alcohol. Pepper notes and some fruity acidity too. Very light in body, considering the high alcohol content. Soft and smooth, and easy on the palate. Dangerously easy drinking. Elegant and well composed. Yum.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Golden with a vague off white head. Alcohol and ethanol in aroma along with malt, grain and a slight spiciness. Sweet flavour of malt, caramel and some spices. Alcohol still present ending with some dryness in a light bitter aftertaste. Not my thing all the way through but has some positive elements.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, at Patricks. I’ve been lucky to be able to follow this beer as it’s matured at the brewery, and I must say I’m delighted with the result. I’ve also tested a big glass of it without carbonation, that’s even better I think. Well, it pours a clear, reddish orange body almost without any head. A few bubbles that settles very fast is all. There’s a lot of canned fruits in the aroma, which also has a lot of generic fruityness and alcohol. Alcohol in a pleasant way that is. There’s hops in it too, but quite subdued. It’s full-bodied and warming in the mouth, with a lot of sweetness, that’s almost strange as it read less than 1.000 on the meter, but then it feels quite dry too. There’s lots of fruits, pineapple and peach mostly, a really pleasant bitterness, and a bitter, warming finish with fruityness. Beer? Technically it is, but it’s damn different, something one might easier expect from Mikkeller, but I really enjoyed this drink. On several occations. 100310

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
6th May 2010. On tap at the Mikkeller bar in Copenhagen. Cloudy orange brown beer - no head. Nose of wet dog and rich malt. Semi dry palate. Zero carbonation. Rich toffee caramel malt but salty too. Strong brandy tone that imparts some alcoholic warmth. Finishes brandyish and dry. Gum numbing!!!
