4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
8.5 oz. bottle (paper wrapped in collectible tin):
Pours layered, murky orange-brown (lighter at top)....
No head, No Lace, No bubbles....
Aroma is strong...dark fruit, alcohol.....candied sugar.
Flavour is spicy-sweet, peppered.....over an alcohol bitter (at first)...
Caramel, dark fruit...boozy, malty...
ABV is presented harshly at first, then begins to mellow and blend as it warms....
Escalating sugar-syrupy the farther you go.
Ideal in snifter...it comes alive with swirling and body heat.
Hope I can find another to age for a while.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
250ml bottle split 5 ways. Clear pale amber with no head. Sake, sweet, pepper, more alcohol, sugar, bit of random spice. Little to no carbonation, very sweet, full sweet body, long finish, quite hot, could be called a dessert or extreme beer but not something I enjoyed too much.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
250 ml. Batch 430. Brewed 08/06/2009. Thanks pushkinwow! Clear dark copper with a small head. Plenty of ripe fruitiness in the nose, with calvados-like apple and some warming alcohol. Caramely-malty flavor with lots of fruitiness - very warming, but also quite easy to drink. Hops are well balanced, keeping the sweetness from the front, but not stealing the show. The flavor is also quite complex, with salty licorice, tar, exotic fruit, some spiciness. Full-bodied with warming palate and almost no CO2. Plenty of alcohol burn.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 1 yr in cellar. Lovely amber. Aroma of sweet sake, alcohol and plums. Taste is sweet, with clear notes of the sake-yeast. Rasins, plums, ripe red fruits and alcohol. A demanding beer, but a damn good sipper. 10 times better than Dark Horizon 3rd!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Medium orange-brown body, thin beige head to ring. Extracty nose with milky sugars, rice, and hot alcohol. Sweet, milky body with sharp grain, almost metallic, with harsh, hot alcohol heat. This experiment derailed.
