Bottle at Apotekergården, Grimstad. Pours pale amber with a small brown head. Aromas remind me of a saison with peppery tones. Same goes for flavor. The pepper really compliments this brew. And it’s so good paired with the hamburgers they serve at Apotekergården. Could be more peppery, but this is my new favorite of the Nøgne brews.

Bottle courtesy of the brewery. Murky brown colour with nice foamy head. Tastes like an ordinary bitter until the pepper hits your taste buds. Not too much, but a nice pepper taste. Delicious beer all in all.

Cloudy deep golden/amber colour with an off white head. Spicy, hoppy and yeasty aroma. Yeah you can really taste pepper in this one. Not to dominant. Also fruity and hoppy. A "heavy" beer, but still fresh and easy drinkable. Full body. Pefect to traditional norwegian christmas food. Although gunnfryd might disagree.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2013 Smak och doft av humle, karamell, citrus, svartpeppar. Trevlig tallbarrsbeska med pepprig eftersmak. Välbalanserad och gott.

50 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet CC Vest. Pours very hazy orange with a large light brown head. Aroma of pepper, orange and some hops. Flavour is Orange, pepper with notes of malt and hops. Full body, medium bitter, medium carbonation. Enjoyed with a veal tenderloin dinner. Excellent stuff.

Bouteille @ 4de Gentse Bierfestival.

50 cl. bottle sampled @ GBF 2013. Murky dark orange with a white head. Smell is surprisingly thick BE yeast, hay, touch coffee and light black pepper, small touch caramel. Taste is sweet oranges, caramel, BE yeast, touch hay, slight bitter herbs, malty, and a very nice black pepper finish which is not to heavy. Slightly livelier carb. with a nice yeast body. Bit surprised about the presence of BE yeast or at least BE-like yeast. Quite a lovely beer. Thx! to the RB Crew for sharing.

From tap @Schouskjelleren, Oslo. Dense blond cream head. Hazed, deep reddish amber body. Fresh-smelling. Yeasty, with toasted malts and a subtle, and inviting scent of black pepper. Medium body strenght. Complex and balanced. All flavors merge well; Fruity bitterness, clean malts, and very nice pepper flavor. Yummie! [28.11.12]
