COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of our most refreshing brews, made for those hot summer days, but satisfying year ’round. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Goes well with seafood, particularly oysters.

Ingredients: Wheat and lager malt; East Kent Goldings and Crystal hops; Belgian ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

14°P, 25 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

My first saison. Reminds me of wheat beer. It is perhaps the esters I am tasting. Seems sweet with some sweet malts, and distinct yeast aroma.

Definitely leans toward the dry, funky side of the saison spectrum, as opposed to the sweet / sour side. Lots of toast, funk and wood, plus some basement, stoney notes. Kinda reminds me of Orval, a little.

Very nice soft saison, rounded and drinkable. Gentle but pleasing aroma, sour, caramel and background farmhouse. Soft flavour, apples, sour, orange, and restrained funk. Not very dry. Nice full body.

500 ml. Gorgeous, ebullient orange-amber with a quarter inch of lasting foam and sugary-soapy lace. Aromas of poached pear, white grape must, spicy toffee and a touch of green wood. A sour metallic tinge is a minor distraction as it opens more. The taste is similar to the aroma, plus some wheat and citrus. Pithy wood and wheat flour notes are more dominant on the finish. Medium body is well-balanced with a spicy dry finish, and smoothly carbonated.

Bottle (500 ml). Pours a hazy light gold with a decent head at first. Aromas are a mix of honey, peaches, pears and spice. Flavor has quite a bit of fruit and honey sweetness with a kind of sticky mouthfeel. A little odd for a saison.

Glass at Gallo’s Tap Room. Hazy orange pour with a medium white head. Aroma of applesauce, malt and a bit of spice. Coriander and pepper flavor with orange peel, malt and apricot influence before a citrusy finish.

On draught at Gallo’s. This brew pours a hazy yellow color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of pineapple, lemon and wheat. Light to medium body with a zesty cirtrus character and flavors of spiced yeast, mild hops and grass. The finish is lemony with a spice aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Looks beautiful - supremely bright gold, with a virginal white head and good lacing. Smells like Belgian yeast. Taste is dry, dry, dry. It’s also a little sweet, like a salted, iced finger bun. I always wonder why I enjoy Saisons, then I drink one and mainly love them. This is so insistent and cohesive.
