3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GT2 (3440) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 14, 2008
500 mL bottle from Belmont Station in Portland, OR. I guess I’m confused why this is considered a saison. Smells and tastes exactly like a wheat beer. This is almost identical to Franziskaner or Paulaner. Pours a bright cloudy yellow with little head. Nose is sort of watery but with a surefire hint of bananas like other good wheat beers. Very yeasty. There is a little spicy kick, but overall not too much different from a German wheat beer. Aftertaste is dry and neutral. I would recommend this but I’m still confused about the choice of label.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 emerica56 (600) - Bristol, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 7, 2008
Pours a cloudy yellow orange with no head at all. The nose is very bland and there is not much to smell. The flavor is kind of bland as well, it is kind of earthy and very bitter. The flavor dies right after you finish each sip and it is kind of watery. Overall it is an alright brew but could use some more flavor.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sirpsycho (393) - Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 6, 2008
Bottle. Pours a hazy orange, thin off-white head. Aroma is spicy, touch of citrus. Flavor is spicy, touch of citrus, also a touch of yeast. Nice finish, nice beer. Starting to become a favorite style of mine.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 frankenkitty (1953) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - SEP 25, 2008
Extremely dense, this Saison pours a thick-hazed amber body beneath a wet head of white soap suds. Yeasty aroma, cheesish and lemony. Mild cardamom and pepper. An aroma which makes my mouth water. Gorgeous meld of flavors runs from sweet to tart with herbal bitterness to temper and finish. Thick bodied, smooth, fluffy... long-lasting on the palate and quite satisfying. Rather than drinking this on a hot summer day (as suggested in the commercial description), might I suggest to wait until the cooler days of fall to enjoy this in the true spirit of the Saison-style? I’m certainly happy that I did.
Since I can no longer provide you with an extremely helpful html link to the bottleshop’s RateBeer page, I will simply mention that I bought this pint bottle about a month ago at Kenwood Liquors in Oak Lawn, IL.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - SEP 22, 2008
Brewed 4/07. Golden, firm white head w/ nice lacing. Green pepper, berries, little sourish, funky nose. Smooth wheaty maltiness. Grainy, well hopped citric flavor, menthol finish. Soft yeastiness. Medium bodied, very smooth carbonation. Not a farmhouse saison, but good anyway.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (2918) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - SEP 7, 2008
500ml from Liquor Max - thanks, Nick! Cloudy pale yellow pour with some swirling yeast evident and some decent carbonation. Nice dry yeasty smell, with some notes of honey and spice in there too. Flavors mingle, herbal and floral, like springtime - a bit raw and not quite mellowed out, but pleasant on its own terms. Slight sweetness makes the finish a bit less dry than I prefer, but this is a solid saison.

AHHH... Finally I get to drink a Norsk beer. It cost me 8 bucks for a bottle but I was impressed with this stuff. It was golden in color with a white head. It was a dry tasting beer but had a refreshing taste. You gotta love Norwegians... Lefse, lutefisk, good looking women and good beer. UFF DA!!
