One of our most refreshing brews, made for those hot summer days, but satisfying year ’round. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Goes well with seafood, particularly oysters.

Ingredients: Wheat and lager malt; East Kent Goldings and Crystal hops; Belgian ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

14°P, 25 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

On tap. Nice hazy golden. Fruity hops and spicy dryness. A bit watery but fresh and flavorful nonetheless.

Rating a sale bottle (presumably out of date): hazy bright golden yellow with 2 inches of bright white, gently subsiding foam. Aromas of lemon, honey, some banana, some barnyard funkyness. There’s a bit of black peper bit up front, with some honey an acidic twang, a touch of citric sour and some earthiness. It lack some body, which I attribute to the age of the bottle. Not sure how a fresh version compares.

50 cl bottle@The Broker, Oslo in tulip glass@approx 6 degrees C (too cold, suggested 8 degrees is better). Pours a hazy straw colour with a quickly diminishing white head leaving a little lacing Nice medium strong aroma of malt, bread, yeast and a little brett. Very mouthfilling taste following the aroma and adding a nice dry, crisp hoppy bitterness which is prolonged into the quite lingering aftertaste. Medium carbonation adds to a well balanced Saison without major surprises but with that dry crispness one would expect on top of a complex but not outlandish taste. Another good Belgian style beer from Nøgne Ø. Went very well with my sligtly chilli spiced Moules Frites as well.

Yeast and light funk aroma, there is a touch of lemon, and some pepper spice on the finish. Great saison

Rating #1220 - 05.08.2014 - Bottle from CBI Pours a super hazy straw colour with a frothy white head that fades quickly. Aroma is of farmhouse yeast, bubblegum, dish soap, decent funk. Clean mouthfeel, medium carbonation, mild alcohol warmth. Taste is a crisp sweetness, tempered with herbal notes, mild sourness from the yeast - crazy funky but well balanced and super drinkable. Another awesome saison.

Golden color, medium carbonation. Smells a little of barn, pond water, and apple or pears. Medium to low bitterness. Strong phenolic yeast flavors. Refreshing and nice. A good saison.

The foam is flimsy and aroma reminiscent of a wheat beer. Besides wheat smells too spicy coriander and a little orange. Flavor is slightly tart floral sensation that quickly turns into a mild and round malt flavor which in turn goes into a protracted hop bitterness which incidentally is rich and is well balanced. As a whole, I find it very comfortable, but wheat is still lurking in my subconscious. In a blind test, I had probably guessed that it was a hefeweizen of the good German kind. I’m actually a little disappointed.

Yellow to pale amber colored, cloudy, medium strong offwhite head, small floaters. Aroma is malt, fruits, lemony citrus, peppery phenolic, some straw. Taste is medium sweet caramel malt, fruity orange and lemon, even more spicey peppery notes, some straw and yeast, Low to medium pepper bitterness. Medium bodied and carbonation.
