3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bb (4577) - Alamo, California, USA - MAR 20, 2008
Bottle. Hazy orange amber with a nice off-white head. Light citrus, hay aroma. Wheat, hay, light malt flavor with some citrus, spice, and yeast. Medium body. Easy drinking and refreshing. Lingering malt, light yeasty spice. Lacks a bit of yeasty spice, but not bad.

500ml bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pour is a slightly hazed golden yellow, with a white head of about an inch which fades quickly o just a few soapy bubbles on the surface. Aroma of spicey earthy hops and some musty yeasty sweetness. There is almost a grain / corniness present in the nose as well - which also leads to an almost dirt floor character. Taste is nice, very fresh, funky and spicy. The earthiness and mustiness, and some bright sour funkiness is all present. Nice balance between all the component parts. Much more interesting than i was expecting from the nose. The finish features some dry bitterness that ends this one nicely. All around, a very enjoyable Saison.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Miver (607) - Silver Spring, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 6, 2008
Poured hazy golden orange in color with a very small white head. Aroma of lemony citrus with some spice and yeastiness. Taste is of a little citrus, lemongrass, and a little dusty. Overall this one is far more watery then I expected. My worst Nogne beer yet for sure.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 larstangaa (104) - DENMARK - FEB 28, 2008
Golden amber - cloudy.
Aroma: Yeast, sweet apricot, orange, coriander?
Taste: Slightly sweet, straw, floral, yeast, sligt bitterness
Smooth, not that refreshing as expected. A bit disappointing - or erhaps, I just expected more from the brave Nøgne Ø-brewers?

Ah hah! So that’s how it’s pronounced! "NUHN-ye"
Pours a clouded orange with basically no head. Nose is citrus and minor funk, but the citrus reigns supreme here. Flavor is inky. I know I have used the term before, but this tops all others. Calms a bit over time, or maybe I am just used to it. So we’re definitely on a more robust edge here with some grass mixed in as well. Hearty. Feel is about standard. The usual slightly thin liquid touch and lower carbonation. This is a decent saison. I wouldn’t really compare it to Fantome or any other of my favorites, but it will do.

Not a very strong aroma, malty with a little spice. Flavor is clean with a bit of spice on the finish as well. OK.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MullMan (1099) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 20, 2008
mostly clear golden yellow color, thin creamy/foamy white head that was short even when I tried to force it. aroma is pretty clean for a saison - honey and grainy sweet malt, and weakish floral notes too. flavor has a bit more zing, some lighty spicy malt with a pinch of zestiness that comes from the sparkly carbonation. maltiness goes sweet with a bit of banana, then dry yet doughy and yeasty. finsish goes drier like citrus pith. not as wild as I like a saison, but well done nordic style, makes me want to try this at a raw bar.
