One of our most refreshing brews, made for those hot summer days, but satisfying year ’round. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Goes well with seafood, particularly oysters.

Ingredients: Wheat and lager malt; East Kent Goldings and Crystal hops; Belgian ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

Hazy golden orange with large white foamy head, lively bubbles and some yeast sediment. Fresh, cheerful, slightly tart nose with orange peel, coriander, pepper, gunpowder and Belgian saison yeast among the components. Dry texture, lively mouth feel. The taste is slightly bitter honey sweetness, Spicy (coriander and nutmeg) and a fresh underlying smooth acidity. Very refreshing, very balanced. Three years have gone since the last time i had this beer - it is still among my favorites!

Scopey (1179) - Croydon, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2011
Keg at CP&K. It pours hazy straw yellow with a thin, fizzy, off-white head. The nose is aromatic and spicy: ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, coriander, bread, yeast and some farmyard. The mouth-feel is oily. The taste is honey, coriander, ginger, honey, lime, lemon, metal, soap and wood, with a tangy-bitter finish. A decent Saison.

My first saison! Don’t you power raters envy a newcomer like me? I mean, a couple of brand new beer styles every week? Orange golden, hazy, sparkling body with a large, rocky, white, mostly lasting head, good lacing. Very nice fruity, floral and spicy aroma with yeasty notes, citrus, perfume, apple and a touch of banana. The taste is light sweet with some additional honey flavours, but the acidity and bitterness dominate. Light to medium body, medium carbonation and a dry texture.
[50 cl bottle, batch 570, from Vinmonopolet, Grønland, Oslo]

Bottle from De Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Poured hazy yellow orange in colour with creamy tan head. Hops and yeast in aroma. Medium carbonated. Leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Hoppy and fruity flavour. Quite dry and hoppy bitter in aftertaste.

Tasted on the balcony wearing shorts only. In April. In Norway. Which may bring my mood up whatever beer I’m drinking. Anyway: hazy, golden body, some white foam. Medium carbonation, taste of malt, with both a medium sweet and medium bitter finish. Light to medium body. Great summer beer. Closest one Nøgne Ø has to the other mass-produced Norwegian store-bought beers, but a lot more taste. And better taste as well.

EHouse (89) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 28, 2011
Pours a perfect gold with a light white lacing. Nose is all pepper and funky yeast with a hint of citrus. Medium light body tastes of yeasty orange with hints of pepper and lemon. Light, crisp finish with a lingering of orange rind and pepper.

Shared bottle at BrewDog Edinburgh. Slightly hazy, yellow/orange in colour. Medium white head fades to permanent film. Smell is lager grain with subtle Belgian clove notes and some light citrus. Taste is crisp yet malty, very subtle Belgian with a refreshing but light bitterness. Tangy yeast in the finish. Mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth, light carbonation. Really very refreshing, gorgeous brew.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy, light yellow-orange (wit-like) appearance with a small white head. Belgian yeasty, lemon/orange citrisy, sweet, light Belgian ale nose. Slightly tangy, lightly sour, orange citrusy, medium Belgian yeasty flavor. A bit of hop bitterness on the finish and aftertaste along with strong yeast and mild citrus fruit elements. A very nice Saison.
