COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour Brown is a brown ale which has spent 9 months on oak barrels. These barrels typically have lots of funny microbes hidden deep inside the wood. These do weird things with beer over time. This beer is slightly sour and refreshing. Have it with your favourite veggies or aged cheeses. Serve at 8 degrees C.

Bottle shared at a sour tasting at Noam’s office. Brown-colored with a beige head. Roasty and sourish aroma with coffee, some fruitiness, a bit of acidity, wood and light soapy and floral hint. Sweetish-sourish flavor with a bit of roastiness, coffee notes and a bit of fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

Bottle shared at Partizan. It pours hazy deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is earthy, spice, sour cherry, wood, mouldiness, date, fig and raisin. The taste is earth, mild sourness, mouldy wood, dirt, dark fruit, light roast, toast and lemon with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. After not initially being blow away, the flavour grew on me after a while. Not bad.

0.25l bottle Very dark brown/black body, light brown head. Aroma of grape must, caramel and champagne yeast. Really lemony sour taste with hints of grapefruit, chocolate and caramel. Interesting beer, that’s for sure.

Pours a very dark brown body with a quite large, very lightly tanned, frothy head that reduces to a thin layer, ok lacing. The aroma is sour and crisp, with funky notes, leather, fruit and sour smoke in the back. It’s a gently and mild sourness. The taste is light sour and moderate acidic, too acidic in my opinion, it reduces the drinkability considerably. There are only faint notes of fruit in the flavours, I prefer sours with more obvious sweet fruity elements. The dominant parts are leather, light barnyard and oak. Quite dry on the palate, light-ish body and moderate carbonation. Not one of my favourites from Nøgne Ø.
