COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour Brown is a brown ale which has spent 9 months on oak barrels. These barrels typically have lots of funny microbes hidden deep inside the wood. These do weird things with beer over time. This beer is slightly sour and refreshing. Have it with your favourite veggies or aged cheeses. Serve at 8 degrees C.

Pours a very dark brown body with a quite large, very lightly tanned, frothy head that reduces to a thin layer, ok lacing. The aroma is sour and crisp, with funky notes, leather, fruit and sour smoke in the back. It’s a gently and mild sourness. The taste is light sour and moderate acidic, too acidic in my opinion, it reduces the drinkability considerably. There are only faint notes of fruit in the flavours, I prefer sours with more obvious sweet fruity elements. The dominant parts are leather, light barnyard and oak. Quite dry on the palate, light-ish body and moderate carbonation. Not one of my favourites from Nøgne Ø.

Goddamn gusher. Small brown head. Opaque black body, in this light, anyway. Earthy funky vinegary aroma with wooden barnyard notes. Dry-sweet earthy vinegary tobacco taste wtih wooden fruity rhubarb notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, surprisingly. Dry-sweetish, and somewhat acidic, funky salty barnyard aftertaste with metallic wooden fruity earthy notes. Interesting, but a bit muddy and indistinct. Not bad, but not great, either. (0.25l bottle, wine monopoly.)

Bottle (25cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Very dark brown colour. Huge light beige head with good retention - covers the glass with a nice lacing pattern. Aroma of malt, vinegar, mild spices. Medium/light body, soft carbonation, somewhat watery. Sour taste, balanced by a mild malt sweetness and light bitterness. Fairly tart finish.

On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours opaque dark brown with a creamy head. Aroma is oak and acidic fruity yeast with red currants and rhubarb, as well as balsamic vinegar and some roasted malts. Body is medium with soft carbonation. Flavour is quite sour with oak and yeast, with notes of a funky fruitiness. Very pleasant, but maybe a bit too moderate.

@ Norman: trevlig lagom syrlig doft. Lite källare. Smaken är ganska syrlig med en torr eftersmak. Några kolatoner tycker hitta. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
