COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour Brown is a brown ale which has spent 9 months on oak barrels. These barrels typically have lots of funny microbes hidden deep inside the wood. These do weird things with beer over time. This beer is slightly sour and refreshing. Have it with your favourite veggies or aged cheeses. Serve at 8 degrees C.

Bravo for the experiment but I’m not convinced the style lends itself to this treatment. Which is not to say this doesn’t point in interesting directions. The lavish head shows good length. Impenetrable body of the darkest brown. Interesting aroma of leather, acetone, sour cherries, horse blanket - one for the true connoisseurs of sour ales, amongst whom I cannot count myself. Thin bodied and dry. Acidic. The best I can say about this is that it tastes exactly like you might imagine a sour brown ale would taste - like an accountant breaking bad, but not bad enough to pay much attention. Bottle from Cunningham, huge thanx!
Pours murky brown, nearly black with a huge off-white head. Smell has freaky sour notes with some nice dark malt notes. Starts refreshing sourish, well paired with roasted malts and some coffee. Middle part is absoluteley dominated by the acidity, which pairs perfect to the rest of the aromas, which are roasty, malty and slight chocolatey. Goes into a mild sourish finish with lovely roasted and chocolate malts.

Bottle from Meilby - thank you, Kenni! The beer has got a deep brown colour with an low airy head and medium body. Aroma of malt and oak with some acid hints. Taste of light roasted malt, light mild vinegar, mild acid, woods, oak and barley. Vineous hints with some touch of prune. Good and solid Sour Ale.

250ml Bottle (Thanks Cunningham) - Dark brown with red tinges. Oak, cherries, raisins and some musty notes in the aroma. Tart, fruity and slightly roasted taste with notes of raisins, blackcurrant, cherries and fruitcake. Some notes of cherry cola can be detected in the finish. Quite complex and tart, yet one of the more ’accessible’ ’serious’ sour beers I have had.
