On tap at CBC 2012. Clear reddish/brown with a small head. Aroma of malt, smoke, spices and caramel. The taste was on the heavy side with notes of alcohol. Sweet with wood, yeast and dried fruit. An interesting beer to try but it was heavy.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2012 Sample @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours hazy dark wooden brown with a creamy brownish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with dark bread. wood, golden syrup. smoke, resin and hints of minerals, caramel, orange peal and wet soil. Taste is sweet with dark bread, freshly chopped wood, smoke, resin, ash, grass, oily pine, orange peal, caramel and alcohol. Mouthfeel is rich, smooth, tiny tart and full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny tart with bread, wood, smoke and lemon zest.

Draught, 11%. Cloudy dark brown colour. Smoke and plastic aroma. Sweet plastic flavour, smoked and slightly plasticky.

Tap at CBF 2012. Claret brown, low offwhite head. Peated, fruity aroma, smoked makril - fatty, salt, a bit chocolate. I get the smoke, but I can’t guess where the salt comes from. Chocolate roast retronasal, salt on the palate.

On tap. Pours a cloudy, dark orangey brown with no head. Fat, greasy unpleasant iodine aroma. Rich body, sweet roast and syrup, overripe dark fruit, again loads of rubber and iodine. Warming alcohol finish. 110512

On tap@ Haand2012. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of smoke, malt, some perfume and caramel. Flavor is sweet and smoked with some malt, perfume, oak and bourbon. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Pours dark red color with small head. Aroma of sour fruits and berries, mild smoky notes, spices and malts, some barnyard notes also. Flavor of malts, dark ripe fruits, yeast, sourish fruits and berries. Sweetish fruity palate with a sticky aftertaste.

Draught @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration

Pours dark reddish brown with a smooth foamy head. Strong smoked aroma with notes of oak, vanilla, wood, ash, berries and caramel malts. Taste is smoked and malty with some berries, oak and vanilla notes. Finish is malty with notes of smoked ham, ash and vanilla. Nice, tasty smoked beer.

Pours a deep copper amber colour with a white head. Strong aroma of smoked wood, caramel and birch leaves. Flavour of strong smoked malts, caramel, smoked wood, sweet berries and some earthy notes. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a warming oaky finish with sweet berries. Has some similarities with Schlenkerla’s Eiche, without the oak overdose.

Very slow bubbles coming from the bottom of my glass. Aroma is rather nice with smoke, wood and ash from a campfire. Also some artifical, finger colour -like notes. Flavour is very oaky and somewhat smoky with ash , wet wood and hints of tannine. Dry and somewhat leathery finish with throat-warming alcohol. Intensive, nice and not too stuffy.
