Peated, fruity aroma, smoked makril - fatty, salt, a bit chocolate. I get the smoke, but I can’t guess where the salt comes from. Chocolate roast retronasal, salt on the palate.

On keg at North Bar, dark brown, only a small head, with a lovely thick palate with cherry, smoke, whisky and earthy oak. Nice and smooth.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 McNeillR (249) - SCOTLAND - MAR 19, 2013
Dark brown with whisper of a tan head. Whirlwind of peat and woody plum, I could swirl this for hours without a sip. Big boozy slats of baked fruits, dampened by a watery coffee thread. Mouthfeel is the right side of syrupy and a oaky vanilla linger to match. A really impressive foot up on an already impressive brew.
Keg, North Bar, Leeds
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 brief_smile (100) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2012
Keg @ North Bar. Dark brown colour, thin off-white head. Islay whisky, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and a touch of dark fruit on the nose. Taste is smoked meat, peat smoke, caramel and a touch of bitter coffee. Finish is herbal, bitter and warming with a lingering smoke presence. Wonderfully soft and full palate. Fantastic.

for me this was not great given im not a fan of single malt whiskys this may not have been the best choice. as a beer it very interesting as its like drinking scotch whiskey beer ... i have copied and passed ( with a few alterations) the reviewed from the peted version as it sums up my experience perfectly and im sure its the same thing !
" Nose is SMOKEY! No other aromas! Initial taste is not to smokey, but the aftertaste is Laphroig times two! Distinct smoked whisky! A lasting taste, just like the whisky. Quite sweet with a thick mouthfeel.

Keg at North Bar. Pours a mysteriously deep, copper brown. Aroma is fantastic, like the bourbon barrel version. Smells like an old library: smoke, oaky vanilla, leather, a hint of mustiness. Polish sausage present again, as.are caramel and figs. Taste is beautifully rich: smokey Polish sausage up front, with figs, caramel, oaky vanilla, a little biscuit. Sweet, but really nicely balanced, particularly by the cappuccino bitterness on the end. Tastes great tight around the mouth. Medium-full bodied. Ace. The bourbon barrel beats it, but only just - this is still wonderfully good.

On tap at HaandFestival 2012. A minimal sized light beige head sits on top of a more or less clear, dark brown body. Vanilla, oak, roasted malts, a faint smoked touch and caramel in the aroma. The flavor is quite sweet, with some warming alcohol and smoke hints. Roasted, with vanilla and oak, and towards the end a pleasant bitterness chimes in. Full body, warming and sweet on the palate, with roasted malts and bitterness in the end. Overall, a bit too much on the oaked side for me, but really nice anyway. 120504
