100ml, draught at CBC. Dark orange-brown body, near clear. Bare naked surface. Fruity malts to a wooden dry aroma. Lightly smoked taste mixed with mid-tart fruits and mid-sweet malts. Dry and sweet on the swallow. Likable (Copenhagen, 11.05.2012).

Small beige head. Clear dark brown body. Syrupy tar and molasses aroma with roasty licorice notes. Sweet perfumy smoky spicy taste with musty vanilla notes. Full-bodied. Mild, flat, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish alcohol and vanilla aftertaste with smoky tarry lavender perfume notes. Too perfumy and sweet, but the base beer shines through and is still great. (0.15l sample at Haand 2012.)

Tap at CBF 2012. Claret brown, low offwhite head. Peated, fruity aroma, smoked makril - fatty, salt, a bit chocolate. I get the smoke, but I can’t guess where the salt comes from. Chocolate roast retronasal, salt on the palate.

Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, dried fruits, peat, oak and vanilla. Taste is heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long smokey, malty sweet finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.

On tap@ Haand2012. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of smoke, malt, some perfume and caramel. Flavor is sweet and smoked with some malt, perfume, oak and bourbon. Medium body, soft carbonation.

From tap @Haand ØlFestival ’12. A low lightly tanned head, covering a shady dark brown colored body. Initial aroma of wood and well roasted dark malts, followed by a scent of burnt caramel, something herb-like, and faint alcohol. Succulent, full, almost flat body. Taste is sweet and roasty. Vanilla tones, hint of oak, charcoal and dark dried fruits. Warming alcohol and roasty bitterness in the ending.

Pours dark red color with small head. Aroma of sour fruits and berries, mild smoky notes, spices and malts, some barnyard notes also. Flavor of malts, dark ripe fruits, yeast, sourish fruits and berries. Sweetish fruity palate with a sticky aftertaste.

Pours a deep copper amber colour with a white head. Strong aroma of smoked wood, caramel and birch leaves. Flavour of strong smoked malts, caramel, smoked wood, sweet berries and some earthy notes. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a warming oaky finish with sweet berries. Has some similarities with Schlenkerla’s Eiche, without the oak overdose.

Draught @ CBC ’12 as ”Sunturnbrew Oak’d”
Very slow bubbles coming from the bottom of my glass. Aroma is rather nice with smoke, wood and ash from a campfire. Also some artifical, finger colour -like notes. Flavour is very oaky and somewhat smoky with ash , wet wood and hints of tannine. Dry and somewhat leathery finish with throat-warming alcohol. Intensive, nice and not too stuffy.
