Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast and local Grimstad water. It is very difficult to brew a complex and balanced Belgian-style tripel ale, but we have made an attempt at brewing one anyway! Our respect and admiration for those who master the skill and art of brewing excellent ale of this style is limitless. Tripels often pair with cheese, seafood and fresh vegetables.

En tripel er et fruktig og sterkt ol med en lett og elegant kropp. Vi i Nøgne Ø liker å gjøre ting på vår egen måte. <<Hvordan lage en sinatursmak i en tripel?>>, spurte vi oss selv på ett tidspunkt. Vi konkluderte med at torvrøkt malt av skotsk opprinnelse var svaret.

500ml bottle from drinkstore. Pours murky orange with white head that disappears. Poor appearance. Nose is banana, clove, bread, yeast, orange. Flavour is sweet bread, vanilla, banana. Alcohol hints in finish. Body is too light for a triplel. Needs a lot more oomph and luxury. Not great.

Botella de 50 cl en el lúpulo en el momento el 22-06-2014. lote 915/921b elaborada en 24-01-2013 hasta 24-01-2015. Color miel con poca espuma blanca. Sabores y aromas maltosos dulces y bastante especiados. Cuerpo medio algo pastoso y fácil de beber con 9 vol que no se dejan notar mucho. Buena, suave refinada y especiada, para repetir.

It’s boiled over after opening, because of extremelly high carbonation. Belgian yeast, sour citrus fruits, cheap bubble gum, some woody smoke and cheese in aroma. Taste is soursweet, malty, spicy, herbal, yeasty, and resiny with bitter and dry aftertaste. Heavy, full bodied, tasty compilation of three styles: tripel, saison and IPA.

DAA; Pours hazy golden with a moderate lasting, leaving lacings white to off-white head. Aroma is malt, yeast, sour, smoked, citrus, sweet fruit and spice. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet, moderate bitter, spicy, warming and lasting. Body is medium to full, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft.

500 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a small dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, black pepper, honey, bread, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, black pepper, wheat, honey, bread, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, clove, honey, bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/yeast balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is pretty well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice tripel style. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast ester, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; and smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Buonissima ed interessante tripel ambrata con bella schiuma bianca consistente. Al naso i classici aromi tripel conferiti dagli esteri del lievito, fruttrati e speziati. In bocca un denso corpo accompagnato di sensazione alcolica. La bilanciatura tende un po sul dolce con un intenso sapore fruttato e floreale ed un finale aromatico leggermente affumicato non invadente che rende questa birra molto particolare. Questa è una tripel diversa della norma che riesce benissimo a sadisfare a chi cerca un prodotto genuino di qualità. Consigliatissima!

Bière blonde, dorée, légèrement trouble, et très fruitée en nez (fraises, pêches, abricots). Drastiquement différente en bouche, elle émet des notes fumées et houblonnées, des malts presque rôtis, et un sucre résiduel qui passe du fruité au caramel. Expérience sensorielle bizarre que cette concoction de la célèbre brasserie norvégienne, agréable tout de même, mais plutôt déroutante.

Spina @ irish pub. Chiara con schiuma poco persistente. Corpo morbido, torbatura soffice, si fa bere molto bene.
