COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
21°P, 35 IBU.
Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast and local Grimstad water. It is very difficult to brew a complex and balanced Belgian-style tripel ale, but we have made an attempt at brewing one anyway! Our respect and admiration for those who master the skill and art of brewing excellent ale of this style is limitless. Tripels often pair with cheese, seafood and fresh vegetables.

Bottle, 500ml, from a Vinmonopolet in Oslo. A cloudy golden colour with a small white head. A banana bread aroma with grassy hop notes. Flavour is roasted biscuity malt, sweet honey, orange plus some spicy hop bitterness. Alcohol is evident and warming. Fairly high carbonation. I’m liking this a lot, though it is perhaps lacking some complexity compared to it’s Belgian counterparts.

Creamy, fresh and slightly sour tripel with considerable taste of wheat malt. Nicely accompanied by a crisp hop bitterness.

500ml bottle - Pours a hazy dark amber in color with almost no head or carbonation. Aroma has a nice fruitiness and, surprisingly, some peaty smokiness. Flavor has definitely got some peated maltiness along with some mild sweetness and hidden (by the smoke) fruits. Unusual and definitely not a Belgian-style Tripel, but definitely not bad...

Fruktig. Vinmonopolet.

Pint bottle from Stirchley Wines & Spirits, Birmingham. Well, it was a pint until the bottle turned to Vesuvius when opened. Schoolboy error. Cloudy light orange like pineapple juice. Aroma is complex and intense - ginger beer and citrus lemon/pineapple with slight grass. Like the taste and - sweet but not too sweet citrus tang. Balance could do with a tad more bitterness - it’s over a tad quickly and it’s fizz rather than bitterness that lingers. It’s not heavy, despite the ABV. Very good but just not quite worth a 4

Bottled 25/01/14. A gold to copper coloured beer with a lasting bright white head. A yeasty and dry bready aroma. Yeasty, sweet sour and floral in the mouth. Dry biscuits. A bit of fruit. Nice enough but a little underdeveloped in that nothing really goes as far as it promises.
