Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast and local Grimstad water. It is very difficult to brew a complex and balanced Belgian-style tripel ale, but we have made an attempt at brewing one anyway! Our respect and admiration for those who master the skill and art of brewing excellent ale of this style is limitless. Tripels often pair with cheese, seafood and fresh vegetables.

Glad to see a Tripel from this brewery (always nice to see a none-Belgian brewer trying this great style). Pours a hazy golden colour with an amber hue, and a white cap that gives out creamy lace. Aromas of malted wheat (and Barley) with notes of fruits and very mild burnt wood (smokey). The smokiness delivers in the taste as well with peachy wheat and spices in the background. There is a grainy flavour which is weird. Nice brew, but different for a Tripel with the smoke factor (maybe a plus for Islay whiskey drinkers).

Pleasant, complex and quite intensive aroma of ripe fruits, yeast and spices. Large gushing made a lot of mess in the kitchen. Almost completely disappearing head. Hazy orange colour. Wonderful fruit sweetness with great bitterness to balance sweetness. Spices from Belgian yeast and delicate acidity makes this beer realy great.

Bottle at the BrewDog Camden on 17 Mar 2012. Poured an amber colour, with a dense off white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, ripe fruits and spice. Passionfruit and apricots in the flavour, with toasted malt. Finish was peal, chalk and grain.

Pours a copper hazy body with a large white head. Fruity ester pear, spices, lemon, and candied notes. Bread y wheat flavors and a mild warming. Prickly carbonation and a sweet finish. Decent.

Butelka. Choc z drugiej strony to zaleta :)

Hazy orange with small white head. Aroma is apples, bread, ginger, citrus and belgian spice. Full fruity palate. Aftertaste is caramel, hops, apples and a spicy finish. Overall: Very nice. Not to complex, but a perfect beer for pairing with food.

650ml bottle purchased at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Pale golden-orange in colour with a thin but lasting white head, some light lacing. The aroma is yeasty, some citrus, alcohol, apples, slightly acidic. The flavour has a moderate sweetness to it, lots of apples, white grape skins, alcohol, yeast and lemons. Citrusy warming mouthfeel, medium/light body, high carbonation. Finishes long, sweet and warming. Its alright but just not to the standards of other Nøgne beers.

from la Mise en Bière - pours a clear blond-bronze beer with a modest head retention; estery nose with notes of pears, apples and candy sugar; full-bodied and fairly sweet, subtle but fair carbonation, tasty and lively palate; some residual sweetness and more long estery fruity and spicy notes in the finish - stylish indeed

Didn’t strike me as a great beer. Too soft, lacks bitterness and complexity of taste.

Bottle, 500ml. A cloudy golden beer with a small white head. Aroma is of yeast, some citrics and alcohol. It has a very faint aroma of vinegar. Taste is bitter with an alcoholic finish. There is some carbonation and considerable astringency. Sligthly acidic character. Not bad, but I think I prefer the Gouden Carolus Triple.

Bottle, 500ml. Cloudy golden with a foamy offwhite head. Dank citrus and earthy yeast aromas, with a slight touch of mint. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Dry, but with low astringency. Slight but unmistakable smoked character, with a strong herbal feel. Not as sweet as most tripels, with a robust bitter and alcohol finish. Very interesting, the most unorthodox tripel you’ll ever drink.
