2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, batch 414. Shared by akevitt. Pours a cloudy, yellow-orange body with off-white head. Aroma of belgian malts, yeast, and fruit, namely apricot and tangerine. Rather bland, but sweet flavor of carmelized sugar, wheat, along with light citrus and barley. The flavor is just not as distinctive or strong as the aroma. Slight bitterness and alcohol on the finish with a light raisin aftertaste.

Smell of yeast, citrus. Muddy yellow colour with beige head. Aroma of yeast, mango, some nuts, some citrus. Mostly sweet, mildly sour. Carbon is low but sharp. Medium oily texture. Too yeasty, as many other Tripels.

From draft : Aroma has slight spice and peat/smokiness. dry bread. Flavor is nice and fruity, and some of the peatyness comes through here as well. Nice belgian spicyness. Quite balanced in the finish. This was quite good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy amber body with a medium head. Nice and rich aroma. Taste if rather rich and very well balanced. A quite nice tripel with a distinctive character. If it were belgian, it would probably be famous :)

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50 cl bottle@home in tulip glass@approx 9 degrees C Pours hazy yellow with small off white head with ok retention and some lacing. Fruity, yeasty aroma. Taste yeasty, slightly smoked, alcoholic with a sweetness of dried apricot and other dried fruits which also carries over into the aftertaste. Low carbonation and almost cloying palate. Completely lacks the effervescense of a good Belgian tripel and was the most disappointing Nøgne Ø I have had to date. Guess even excellent breweries miss now and again...

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
The aroma is ok. Some pear, yeast and malt. The taste however is not like what I expected from a trippel. The smoked taste and the yeast (that should been the "leading" taste) just not work to well together and it turns out to be a dissappointing beer this time from Nøgne Ø (still the best norwegian brewery....)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the LCBO - purchased in 2012, so over 3 years old when sampled. Bright dark gold with a slight haze (would’ve been hazier, but I left most of the sediment in the bottle) and a thin head. Aroma definitely has an oxidized character with a very slight hint of cardboard, but it’s mostly quite fruity (peach, sweet orange) with a hint of honey and subtle peat. Flavour is quite sweet up front, almost candyish fruit and honey notes, with peat and moderate dry bitterness coming through in the finish. It was probably better a couple of years ago, but this still isn’t too bad.
