Dark brown color, aroma of oak, spices and vanilla. Tasted very nice with lots of dark fruits, figs, nuts, spice and plums but was quite boozy. Medium bodied and definitely a sipper, chocolate and dark rum comes through and the oak is more mellow with the vanilla tones.

On tap at Cardinal. Pours cloudy dark copper with big beige head. Aroma of vanilla, smoke, dark bread, milk coffee, wood, nuts, bourbon. Taste sweet with some bitter aftertaste. Striking mixture of different wood types - oak, sandalwood? Very complex and one of the best Nøgne Ø beers recently!

Tap. Small fast tanned head. Dark muddy brown. Herbal malty aroma. Spicy, herbal, condenced vegetables, roasted and hoppy. Thick, strong and filling. Very rich and tasty.

Fine rummy muscuvado sugars and refined caramels are written large in this bordeux-brown US barley wine style composition, but never overpower or fume out the delicate, silky-dense brown ale malt cushion underneath thanks to Nøgne Ø Scandinavian sense of moderation when applying postmodern US styles to UK-oriented ingredients and palates. Verges into dessert/browny territory, rum-soaked, before being called back to PoMo beer land by an arresting helping of woody, resinous hops.
