4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Jan Halvor Fjeld, winner of Norwegian homebrewing championship 2010 brewed his champion double IPA at Nøgne Ø. We at Nøgne Ø are of course proud to be with him in making this happen. This double IPA is inspired by America. It is fairly dry, which allows the hops to dominate. There is bitterness up front, some balanced malts in the middle and complex fruity and resiny hop aromas which simply has no end.

A very balanced an tasty IPA, strong enough to feel a buzz after a pint, but not too strong so as to taste only alcohol. One of my favorites!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, Sjøboden, Bergen. Foaming murked honey amber whipped with foam. Hot honey, throat sweets, nectar, deep husk in a balancing bittersweet finish. Understated but with bags of finesse. No real tropical or distinct hop character. Nose bilious peach, cedar and pine. Maybe DIPA just isn’t my thing.

The smell is malty, hops, one of the best smelling beers I have had. Beautiful honey blonde just like your favorite stripper. The taste is barley, hops, honey which surprises you. Great taste, the sweetness really evens out the bitterness. Great double IPA.
