3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. A pleasant amber with a biege head. Muted pine, some grapefruit and mango rind, caramel malt undertone, butterscotch, bit of banana sneaks in at the end unexpectedly. Moderate+ body, with a soft carbonation, sweet with a nice bitterness that develops and eventually dries out the palate leaving a hop resin coating. Tasty beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2013 (50 cl bottle courtesy of Mark, thanks!; Batch 922; Brewed on June 2nd 2013) Pours a slightly hazy amber with little, white head. Decent retention, lace and regeneration. Aroma is yeasty with notes of citrusy hops. Oily texture, medium carbonation, full body and an astringent, warming finish. Flavour is bitter and boozy with sprucy notes.
Original rating from February 23rd 2013: (50 cl bottle from Den Nordiske Ølhandel; bbd: March 6th 201<illegible>) Pours a hazy amber with medium white head. Good retention and lace. Decent regeneration. Aroma is a subtle hoppy with fruity notes and an acidic hint. Oily texture, medium carbonation, full body with a warming finish. Taste is boozy with fruity notes and an astringent finish. Dipa is just not my favourite style. Girlfriend says "I like the aroma but it’s too bitter for me."

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
50 cL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours hazy orange-amber with a moderate off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are big citrus notes of orange and lemon, along with flowers, tropical fruit, and touches of grain and caramel. The flavour is intensely bitter throughout with big pine and grapefruit, but there is also a moderate caramelly, biscuity malt background that doesn’t quite balance. Notes of mango and peach peek through as well. Bitterness kicks up a notch towards the end, leading into a long, dry piney bitter finish. Overall, this is a very nice double IPA with a surprising subtlety despite a huge amount of hops. Very well constructed, and well worth another try. 2012-12-15

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Living in Belgium, I have the great privilege of being surrounded by some of the best beers in the world. However, one thing is missing: hops! Luckily, I also have the privilege of being centrally located in Europe, and thus a short train ride from Paris, home of one of the coolest beer stores I’ve ever been to: Brewberry. Which is where I purchased this fine specimen from Nogne O. From 0.5L bottle into Lagunitas mason jar. Pours dark bronze with off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is rich piney hops. Taste super earthy and deep--tons of dirt in the finish. Very chilled out and smooth--despite being boozy, it doesn’t drink like it. Palate stays pretty dry. Somehow a double IPA that doesn’t overdo it and turn into a hop bomb--I like it.

Very hazy amber beer, decent cream coloured head. Palate is dry and a little crisp. Rich deep orange peel marmalade, pretty bitter. Not much else going on. Finishes dry and minerally with a long long bitter finish. Aggressive and lacking balance but as I love hops - pretty drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 03.07.14, Batch 831.
App.: Amber with plenty of floaters and a nice yellowish-tan head.
Aroma: Great juicy, citrus and resin hops, light tropical notes, somewhat mashy/brothy, decent caramel and biscuit support but who cares? The hops are the stars here.
Palate: Medium+ body, somewhat relaxed effervescence.
Flav.: Plenty more juicy, citrusy, resinous, fruity hops, pine, a little woodsy, sweet biscuit, caramel, bread crust support, very nice; dry with good bitterness and a long, sweet, juicy and slightly alcoholic finish.

Brewed in collabration with the winner of the homebrew contest in Norway. The name comes from Kjell (founder of Nøgne Ø) and the winner of homebrew are both former SAS pilots.
Hoppy aroma has a strong, sharp, slightly dusty fruity overtone. Pours copper with a fairly thick head. Flavor is quite hoppy and fruity. Prefer this one before the regular IPA from Nøgne Ø

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Bright orange, with lacing which wraps around the innards of the glass. Smells is sweet, thick, rich, with some hop-laden malt extract. Pretty thin in the mouth, which is pleasant cos it negates the threat of sickliness. Very easy supping for a DIPA and whilst it doesn’t have the grunt of some bigger beasts, it does strike me as lovely, dignified and well balanced hop treat.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour cloudy brown with orange hues. Nose of some dank hop, slight boozy, and bready malt. Some pine hop flavor and decent bitterness. Strong malt presence. To me taste more like a barley wine than double IPA
