4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy copper colour with a decent white head that’s quickly gone. Smells grapefruit, pine, hop, spruce, bitter and a tad sweet. Tastes very bitter, very hoppy, pine and spruce, bitter. Could use a bit more carbo, medium body. Great double ipa! Love it.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Recipe brewed by Nogne for winner of the 2010 Norwegian home brew contest: Jan Halvor Fjeld. Pours a murky tangerine with a fluffy, tightly-bubbled, creamy off-white two-finger head. Aroma of straight fuely grapefruit, wet grass, skunky must, dry, bitter noble hops, and slight notes of dusty farmhouse funk. The nose is very dry and earthy. Very stringent, tight body with an agressively carbonated, tongue-tingling palate. Flavors follow through on the piney, bitter side and finishes with very subtle traces of pineapple, grapefruit, and apricot. The finish is very dry and leaves an almost chalky taste on the tongue. Very cool double IPA.

Whilst I thought this was good, it didn’t really knock my socks off as I thought it might. Quite a sweet palate detracted from the beer for me. I love seeing what this brewery does and I would try this again, their philosophy is fantastic, they make whatever they feel like.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ful apricot-golden colour with some semblance of a white head. That it was hazy was probably my own fault for pouring in a bit of sediment as well. Never mind. Like several imperial IPAs I have had it has a good nose full of spruce, stonefruit and alcohol. Good carbonation and a deceiving palate: there aren’t many indicators that this beer has a high alcohol content. Dangerously drinkable. Plenty of hop characters and a great deal of bitterness. The finish brings that astringent "I’ve had a faceful of hops" quality. Good, drinkable beer and worthy of the accolade its home brewing creator earned. Well done that man.

Good imperial IPA. Supposedly a Pliny the Elder clone, but more malt forward and less grassy. Still pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle in Perth, WA. Sweet, malty aroma with some orange fruit. Flavour had more caramel and fruit, before a dryish finish with a noticeable alcohol kick. Fine.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Abner Ale House. Pours hazy golden orange with small white head. Aromas of mangos, peaches, grapefruit, yeast, and bready malts. Flavors of bitter hops, grapefruit, tropical fruits, light yeast, and bread. Has a nice body and bitterness. Pretty solid I must say.
