Aroma: superb, grassy wet hop, garden after rain fresh, chopped mango, sweet sugary backing to support hops. Simply superb.9-
Look: cloudy amber with presentable top, solid lace on glass.
Taste etc.: full bodied with mellow carbonation. Citric, alpha acid presence around with more than enough sugar to soften feel. Alcohol mellow for such strength. Lovely beer.

500ml bottle from the lcbo. deep orange, white head. pungent hoppy and crystal malt nose. aged IIPA flavour. very brewed just slightly past its prime. a little more body and this would be a damn fine barley wine.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013 Have to admit I’m biased on this one. One of my favorite beers. Very floral aroma, nice golden color. The generous use of hops brings out a great sparkle and sting that I find very attractive in a beer. Good balance between hops and malt. In my opinion this is the best Nøgne Ø beer even though there are some close competitors (like #500).

Bottle; Pours a cloudy orange-amber in the glass with a tight-pored off white 2 finger cap....good retention, laces the glass well. Moderate carbonation, medium bodied. Aroma is pungent - floral citrusy lots of fruity esters wonderful nose to this. Flavor starts out almost sweet with big chewy caramelized malts in front then almost instant balance with hop bittering, mid palate there is some complexity with apricots, grapefruit and malts jut under the bittering hops....finish is long drying and increasingly bitter to s nice hoppy bite at the end. Helluva fine 2XIPA.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky burnt orange with thick off-white head and lots of floaties. Aroma is resiny, piney and citrusy hops with some bready and caramelly notes. Flavour is strong pine, grapefruit and other tropical fruit, as well as some bread and caramel. Slightly drying finish. Verging on full body. Nice.

Bottled March 2012, so not the freshest. Still smells very hoppy, grapefruit, tropical and earthy. Not much malt coming through on the aroma. Hazy appearance, head a bit fizzy. Taste is where a lot of malt comes through, piney taste and quite sweet. Alcohol not completely hidden but compliments the drink nicely. Bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Overall a very good IIPA especially considering it’s time since bottling.

500mL bottle from the LCBO. Total surprise to me that this was coming. Pours a hazy orange with a large off-white head with a lot of yeast. As the beer settles over a few minutes, tons of yeast chunks form on the bottom, which looks weird but fortunately I’m not off-put by these things. The aroma is quite striking, it almost reminded me of carrots at first, but in a weirdly enticing way. Loads of hops with some hefty dry yeastiness and a nice tangerine quality. Flavour is equally pleasing, very hop forward but with a substantial malt body to balance it out, with a dry finish. The hop characters are sort of fruity and complex. Feels full on the palate, with minimal carbonation (always a plus in my mind). A richly satisfying beer, I’m always glad when expensive Scandinavian beers end up not being over-attenuated malt bombs!

En herlig floral lukt, horder av grapefrukt, det hele god balansert opp mot maltsødmen. Nøgne Ø’s beste øl.
