3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle. Cloudy amber. Medium-sized fine white head. Vinous apricoty and bready nose. Lots of hops, but also a lot of bready malts. A little too many things happening at the same time. Sharp hoppy bite against the rich bready malts. Balanced though. Enough malts to stand up to the hops. A beer that is something between a barley wine and a double IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
50cl bottle from Hopduvel, BB 13/10-2014, batch# 708.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hoppy aroma has a strong, sharp, slightly dusty fruity overtone. Pours a dark, hazy, coppery amber with a fairly thick and fluffy buff head. Flavor is quite hoppy and fruity, nothing special but still enjoyable. Texture has average body and good fizz. If not the best Imperial IPA I’ve had, still a decent one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle. Really close to a top class beer. Aroma of green apples, squash, cognac and nuts. Clear and sharp and wellbalanced bitterness. Needs time and deserves to be enjoyed like a fine cognac.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy amber-orange with a monstrous white head (arguably the best retention I can recall seeing... and while I didn’t try it, I would almost bet on a penny not sinking through it) Nose is fairly resinous with a hint of farmy grassy-ness (cows?). Mouth is thick, full of pineapple and big tropical fruits and orange at the end, along with some of that farminess I was talking about. A whole lot like the WC IPAs from microbrewers in Cali (Port, Stone) and the hop-heavy Midwestern types (Three Floyds, Pipeworks). This one differentiates itself with that farmy-ness though. An outstanding beer that makes me want to go to Norway and drink some more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 mL bottle. Very hazy copper-brown with a nice off-white head. Big American high alpha hops in the aroma - very appealing, but no longer particularly original. There is something different in the flavour though - an herbal, medicinal note. Still some booze in there too, but this just adds complexity and body. The flavour stays with you, in a good way. I really like this one.

3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 0,5l. Hazy dark orange-amber body. Moderate sized off-white head. Streaking lacing. Nose is fairly malty but is accentuated by floral/grapefruit notes and a bit of sticky raisin. Flavor is similar but even more intense.Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, prickly, very bitter finish. IPA has never been my favorite type of beer, and a double IPA is intense, as expected.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at Monk’s Cafe on 2012-09-02. Thin film of foam at top. Coppery-orange color. Citrus aroma with balanced malt. Full body, coats the mouth and throat. Warming alcohol presence. Spicy hop notes with a balacnced malt flavor. Very good! I’ll probably never see this one again, although I wish I did.

Tap 33cl. Grünerløkka Brygghus. Nice white sidesticking head. A citric fruity aroma, hard to tell. Sweet rotten pear perhaps. Sweet taste of syrup and sugar. Good.
