COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

If you like sours don’t pass it up. This beer so raw, delicious and unique. A wild wheat sour. I prefer barley. Wild beers are the bomb! In more ways than one at $14.00 a pint. Very dry. The funkiness has a similar organic decomposition to blue cheese. Supremely excellent beer to pair with cheese. The aftertaste leaves you wanting more and more and more. The 8.0 alcohol is not detected at all. This is high class beer. To me highly underrated.

I let this one sit for a while because the early bottle ratings were less than promising. Well, good move me. Opens with a nice carbonation pop. Pours a slighlty murky orangish light brown with a fantastic fine fizzy white head. Aroma is huge brett, but clean, touch of diaper, not as sweet as I was expecting, absolutely lovely cranberrish bright tartness, uh... this is good. Flavor is all of that and more, super crisp and especially clean, wonderfully sour, not over the top sour, the ligonberry is very true, wonderfully balanced, great brett character, the finish is fantastic, super clean, especially delicate. The body is perfect, light with very crisp fine carbonation, not the least bit sticky, not overly dry but still clean, extremely quaffable. I hope the people who rated this early on get to have another taste of this because it is crimnally underrated.

Bright reddish orange with a fizzy white head. Earthy floral cinnamon and sour fruit aroma. Sour apple cinnamon caramel taste with a soft sparkling palate.

Scandinavian Beer Night. Bottle from brewer. Huge thanks to Akevitt and whoever he got this from. Red color with a medium head. Strong, sweet lingonberry aroma with a mild perfume. Very tart and lightly sour lingonberry taste. Semi-sweet malt and caramel flavor. A noticeable floral hop finish. The mixture of the tart fruit and the sour malt is just divine.

[Sampled with the duo Svoger & Svogergylp at DØE, Valby, 2009.] After the bikerun of 80 km I just swallowed all of this wonderful brew and wanted more. Clear amber colour and flat head. Citric notes of lingonberries, easy fruity although all the nice sourness. Welldone work of Norway and DK.

Cloudy reddish amber ale covered by a huge head artificially kept up by exagerated carbonation that makes pouring difficult. Keeps a mighty cap, but does not provide much lacing. As it warms up, its aroma is intensely bretty with cheesy lactic notes. I frankly don’t catch much of the fruit in the nose, mostly being caught into funky whirlwinds of cobwebby basement, wild flowers, pine needles, leather and dusty pineapple. It had been a while since I’d had such a wildly aromatic, pungent brew. In mouth, cranberries take more room, procuring an acidic juiciness that has more than a lactic hint. The carbonation might have hinted at that, but I was impressed by its very, very high level of dryness, a feature I greatly enjoy. Outside, the yeast and the fruit, other component provide little complexity, the wheat enhancing the refreshment and having a certain bready/dry biscuit side, but on the whole, except for its wild imagination, this remains a pretty simple beer, but one that I greatly enjoyed with beautifully extracted fruit, almost no noticeable alcohol at 8%, a remarkable attenuation and a rare pungency.

20091009 500ml bottle from State Line. Fun, enjoyable, welcome experiment from this brewer. Appears as a pink tinged wit with a somewhat fizzy though lasting mauve head. Aroma is inviting though very unusual and reminds me so much of two Heavyweight beers, the Jåkeldrickå and Bob’s Bog Weiss. Flavor is minty in a teaberry kind of way, somewhat tart, light astringency, quite dry, ultra quaffable. If this wasn’t so expensive I’d buy a case because it’s right up my alley. As it is, I think I’ll stock up for the holidays.

Bottle from Gomer’s in Lee’s Summit, MO. Aroma definitely has cranberry. Lots of tiny white bubbles that hang around for awhile, showing glimpses of orange or pink when the sun hits them right. Unfortunately, both glasses used were ceramic so getting a good look was a bit tough, but the orange and pink showed up again against the white ceramic. Great flavor, not very sour or wild at all, nice and smooth with light tartness of cranberry and maybe a bit of peach or apricot. An easy drinker that is still great for sipping. Very enjoyable. A wonderful end of summer beer.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 8% and it has a spot for a date to be printed but it was not filled in. Appearance: The body has a woody brownish color and a heavy cloudy haze. On top it sports a light tan head with specks of tan yeast sediment. This tall loose packed head settles down to a small cap of foam that hangs on well and makes for some spotty/slick lacing on the glass. Smell: There is a tart, almost currant like character to the aroma. Taste/Palate: A pleasant tartness slides across the palate and brings notes of sweet/tart berry, currant and as it warms cider like tart green apple. This tart fruity character sits up on a base of dry bready and yeast notes with a touch of earthy funk. It finishes dry and pleasantly tart with a very slight touch of spice. Notes: My overall feeling on this beer is simply, F-ing A this is a tasty beer!

Really bright sour cranberries with horse-saddle bret character. Really rich malt texture gives weight to counter-balance the sour.
