COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “gløgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

500ml bottle. Clear dark brown with huge stable beige head. Already while pouring a room-filling aroma reminds of bath salt. Extremely spicy, herbal, soapy aroma: cinnamon, ginger, caradamon, coriander, clove, maybe some orange and orange zest. A nice smelling combination, but do I really like to drink something like that? The taste resulting from those ingredients is too soapy for me. Maybe some more sweetness would give a better taste, maybe the result would be a too heavy beer then - I can’t say. Not bad, exceptional but also weird.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark amber with small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a raisin malt and spice aroma. Medium mouthfeel with smoke and Pepper. A good spice beer from Nogne.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, loads of cloves, treacle, very nice. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with light cloves, good coffee notes, very nice. Sampled at Bierkraft, Dec. 27 2011.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2012 Bottle, pours dark brown with medium white head. Aroma is very nice with orange and alot of spices. Taste is quite a letdown after the good nose, thin and boring with some spices. Ok beer

Bottle. Very dark, almost black with a creamy head. Strong aroma of ginger, fruity hops and juniper berries. Complex taste of various spices, chocolate and berries. Bitter finish.

Bottle @Dan’s, courtesy of, er, me. Nose is fantastical - ginger, cinnamon goodness. Lovely. Taste can’t match it, sadly, but is still good. Spice/ginger is still there, quite harsh, but nicely so. Yummy and nice.
