The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “gløgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

Crazy how bad my tongue seems to be. Wife likes it, I hate it. Well, it does not matter as this one ist just dull, skunky and dominated by pepper in the end. Maybe the nose offers a bit of christmas, but the taste and especially the aftertaste do not. Drinkable, but also very dull beer with strange aromas. Not relly to recommend.

Bottle from trade with Cunningham - many thanks Henrik :) ! The beer pours out in a deep cloudy dark brown colour with low unsteady head and medium body. Surprising aroma of pepper, cloves and nutmeg. Taste of white pepper, wine, cloves, cinnamon, anise and "pfefferkuchen"- indeed, this is a winter feelings beer! Finsihes off with lots of pepper and spices - medium-dry. Surpising one but not that bad, rather nice and warming.

Dark brown color, tan head. Massively spicy nose, including cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, mint, anise and ginger. Spicy taste, roasted malt, sweet with a bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Argonaut Liquors, Denver 50cl: This was cheaper in Denver than it would be on the East Coast, so I decided to get it. Anyway, it pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, ginger, and spice. The ginger taste is pretty strong and clashes in an interesting way with the robust roasted malts. Interesting and quite tasty.

12/27/2013. From bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Spicy aromas with malt and fruit. Flavors are bitter from the hops with the spices showing through. Love it or hate it - it’s a nice Christmas brew.

Pours brown with a lasting head. Aroma of spices, malt and meat? Nice taste with well balanced spices, caramel and malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sad to say this one just didn’t work for me. The aroma is extremely spicy--all those christmas beer spices on steroids. Flavor is pretty much the same, but all the spice ends up muddy. Clove, licorice, anise, ginger--it’s too much and I actually didn’t finish mine. Not something I’d usually say with a nogne O.

Dark opaque with thin lasting beige head; aroma is most peculiar:)- mostly of a citrus blend and blend of pine- orange, lemon, lime and fresh cut pine tree; flava is mildly sweet, notes of plum/raisin with a woody/sprucy underlay and then roasty dry grainy malty; feels medium to thick with nice foamy fizziness; finshes both equally sweet and dry leaving hints of fruit and spice and molasses.

A: Pours a dark brown with ruby tones upon light penetration. Single finger fine latte head slowly hangs out and remains a thick quilt. Little to no lacing. S: Wow, did they dump a vat of cloves and tea tree oil into this one?! The herbs are amazingly strong on this beer. some hints of cinnamon, vanilla. Otherwise, I can’t actually reach anything. Way overdone on the spice. T: Huh, the malts are still strong here. Although the aforementioned spices remain the dominant flavor, the malts provide a good roasty, malty, sugary tone. Good flavor. Still, nose dominates. M: Medium body with high carb. Nothing special here. O: They abused their access to spice. Tastes like mulled wine, which has been mulled again. Way too much spice. dissapointing. Serving type: bottle 04-04-2011
