The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “gløgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

Dark opaque with thin lasting beige head; aroma is most peculiar:)- mostly of a citrus blend and blend of pine- orange, lemon, lime and fresh cut pine tree; flava is mildly sweet, notes of plum/raisin with a woody/sprucy underlay and then roasty dry grainy malty; feels medium to thick with nice foamy fizziness; finshes both equally sweet and dry leaving hints of fruit and spice and molasses.

A: Pours a dark brown with ruby tones upon light penetration. Single finger fine latte head slowly hangs out and remains a thick quilt. Little to no lacing. S: Wow, did they dump a vat of cloves and tea tree oil into this one?! The herbs are amazingly strong on this beer. some hints of cinnamon, vanilla. Otherwise, I can’t actually reach anything. Way overdone on the spice. T: Huh, the malts are still strong here. Although the aforementioned spices remain the dominant flavor, the malts provide a good roasty, malty, sugary tone. Good flavor. Still, nose dominates. M: Medium body with high carb. Nothing special here. O: They abused their access to spice. Tastes like mulled wine, which has been mulled again. Way too much spice. dissapointing. Serving type: bottle 04-04-2011

A dark brown color with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is heavily tilted toward Christmas spiciness, especially ginger is prominent. Taste is similar but luckily it has a malty backbone in it as well. Ginger and cinnamon feature along with toasty dark maltiness. The palate is medium bodied - which is a bit light, could be fuller - and moderately carbonated. The flavours are suitable for Christmas, in my opinion, but the body should be fuller.

Aroma: floral with almost the sweetness of parma violets on the nose as the sweets and a touch of English roses. Cloves. Appearance: brown, clear, tan foam, Taste: medium sweetness, Palate: medium body, lively carbonation , Soft and delicious. Overall: very easy drinking and moorish. Would definitely recommend.

Mørk brun farve med beige skum. Lukt av malt og krydder. Smak av malt og masse krydder. Vinmonopolet.

2008 vintage (Brewed 15/05/2008) Very interesting and Christmas spicy nose, giving indications of something off dry or semi sweet in the mouth. The taste is truly a fusion: IPA bitterness and astringent fruitiness combined with Christmas Ale maltieness. It’s an interesting beer, but how good is it? It’s an academic beer in the science that it’s an untraditional construction of elements which are usual not combined in this way. But is it good? It’s neither an aperitif beer nor a food beer or a dessert beer. It’s a meditation beer and a gingerbread beer. But is it good? Well, as far as I’m concerned I’m not convinced yet and all I can say is: the jury is still out on this one.

Exciting beer. It definitly smell and looks like christmas! The description "fusion of christmas ale and gløgg" is precisely what it is. I think I’ll have another one soon.

Bottle 50 cl, BBE 08/2016. Strong herbal notes, medicinal feeling here in aroma, some odd perfumy notes as well. Not much of christmas so far, which is a pity. Bland taste of some herbal and light unnamed spicy notes. These spice/herb interpretations seldom work. Perhaps some cardamum and cinnamon in aftertaste, but it just doesn’t feel right here. A disappointment resulting in drainpour.
