3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Surprising crisp herbal/green hop dryness sets the palate watering for cakey xmas spices and mildly sweet dark fruit flavours. Foggy swamp water brown look with some tan head, set off by more attractive highlights orange. Long dry finish is bracing but the whole package still charms.

Bottle. Brownish black beer with a strong brown foamy head. The aroma is herbal with some sweetness, and the flavour is herbal with sweetness and a good degree of bitterness. Overall a nice herbal flavoured bitter beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep mahogany with short lived head. The aroma is medical, herbal, touch of charred wood, malt and biscuit. The flavour is odd, at first I disliked it. . . . But its growing on me, medical, decongestant, pine, wild cranberry, coca cola, brio, and a bit of a caramel.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a murky dirty brown color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with notes of cinnamon and cardamom dominates with some light citrus hops notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by solid caramelized malt with some cinnamon and cardamom notes. Light toffee and chocolate notes can also be detected. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting use of the spice with good balance to keep the whole mix drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From notes: bottle labelled as "Peculiar Yule". Poured clear cola brown with a 3-finger tan head. Pleasant aroma of ginger mixed with a spice note, and maybe some candied fruit. Body is medium thick and a touch oily. The spices are the predominant flavor, with a cocoa note lingering in the finish. The ginger lies lightly beneath the spices, providing a nice spark. A mild cola-like note up front as it warms.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This spiced beer has cinnamon, ginger, cloves, coriander and cardamon listed as the 5 spices in the ingredients. Pours a real dark copper colour with a beige head, good retention and decent lace. Those special spices are definitely creating the most of the aromas. Hints of roasted malts and licorice. Medium-bodied with a mouthfeel that is slightly oily. The taste is not as powerful as the nose, but has a nice blend of things. Roasted malt, licorice, spices and even a bit of mint in the finish. Lingering ginger in the aftertaste. A nice Christmas brew that is good to have... once a year.

Found this in the bargain bin at Paul’s Grocery in McCall, Idaho for only $1.99. Quite a buy. My bottle was titled Peculiar Yule. Poured a very dark brown color with a tan head. and good lacing. Nose of ripe fruit and spices. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is ripe dark fruit, juniper, and chocolate. Light bitterness in the spicy finish. Very tasty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
16.9 oz bottle to snifter (thanks BeerPig). Looks solid; a murky, dark amberish-brown with off-white lacing. Smells sweet and boozy with notes of caramel and toffee. Tastes like it smells, but a little less balanced (and maybe slightly oxidized). Average on the palate. Solid beer.
