The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “gløgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

Bottle. Brownish black beer with a strong brown foamy head. The aroma is herbal with some sweetness, and the flavour is herbal with sweetness and a good degree of bitterness. Overall a nice herbal flavoured bitter beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. Pours a deep caramel with a half finger, off whore head that thins to a bubbly ring. Aroma has warm notes of caramel, ginger, clove, and other spices. Taste is balanced. Starts off with mild cinnamon and spices then quickly moves to roasted malts with a hint of dark chocolate, then ends with spices, especially ginger and clove. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall interesting. Spices and roasted flavours with a dry finish. Don’t think I could have more than a glass.

Mye jul i lukten, først å fremst nellik og kardemomme sammen med litt ingefær. Dette følger også i smaken som noen ganger kan bli litt tynn. varm og god ettersmak. I det store og hele et underlig juleøl.

500ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Muddy brown in colour with a thin lasting beige head. The aroma is quite spicy with lots of ginger, cloves, cinnamon. The flavour is more ginger, some brown sugar. Finishes long, lingering spice. Seems bigger than it is.

2014/11/20 - Pours an opaque, murky, brown-amber colour with a foamy tan head that quickly reduces to a lingering surface film. Aroma is mild caramel, fruitcake, heavy ginger and spices (cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg),and lots of spiceThere are spicy aromas of rich fruit cake. Taste is similar to nose; fruitcake, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg and toasted malt. Mouthfeel is medium with slightly biting carbonation and a crisp, drying finish. Flavours are pleasant, but a little more spice centric than I had hoped. Nonetheless, this is a rather enjoyable brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 50 cl. Deep red with a nice foamy but shortlived offwhite head. Aroma of anise, cloves and dark fruits. Medium sweet, ligt bitter with a long cloves and anise ending, nice. BB. 08.08.14, tested 28.08.2014

Sampled on draught at the Enoteca Svanen in Oslo. The beer is a dark ruby colour with a healthy whitish head. There are spicy aromas of rich fruit cake. This is really like Christmas in a glass. There is some malt taste but the overwhelming flavours are of cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and perhaps other spices. This mixture of flavours comes together very well, and there is a pleasantly dry finish from the fruity hops. This is a really wonderful, carefully-made brew and immediately put me in the Christmas spirit - not bad for the 14th November!

Poutlrs dark brown aroma is herbal with some pine and spicy cinnamon. Flavor has a bready malty back bone with more herbal piney flavor.
