The name of this beer is "Peculiar Christmas" in English. This spiced Christmas ale is strange - and indeed a fusion beer. We have gathered inspiration from the Norwegian drink “glřgg”, and as such this is quite an uncompromising brew. Best served with “goro” and “fattigmann”. Recommended serving temperature 10°C/50°F, but you are free to try on higher temperatures...

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, caramel, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Cascade hops; 5 different spices, English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

15°P, 30 IBU, 6.5 ABV.

Up until recently the most remarkable beer I have ever consumer as Sunturnbrew. It sat as the best beer I have ever tasted with a score at around 4.7. I could not picture a better beer until Westvleteren came along and then it did. I was spell-bound. I bought a bottle and am leaving it to mature and I will see what happens in a year or so. This one reeks of the same producer, but nowhere near the same method. Purplish, tawny port colour and I wish I knew how they did that, Mocha head that sat on top of the beer and then buggered off. Aromas of cloves, plum, currant, mace, garam masala, aniseed, cherry-vite, medicinal tinctures and all sorts of things that ought not to be consumed by themselves. Give me a taste and it was as if I was not suppose to open the package: it was someone else’s medication. Pungent, numbing and strong. I have but few regrets about this beer: I am not drunk, I am spellbound by the taste and I am not moved to like it terribly much as I did the Sunturnbrew. For a beer that ought to rock the world, I swoon and forget about its lead singer before I smell bacon and eggs for brekkers.

Bottle (as "Peculiar Yule") from Louisville Beer Store; shared with my Boo. Aroma: Reminds me of Chai- lots of spices, particularly cardamon and clove with molasses. Appearance: Dark chestnut brown pour with a tan cap that settles into a wispy head. Flavor: Pretty much matches the nose; spice intensive throughout- like drinking a Chai and eating a Christmas spiced cookie; the finish is mostly dry. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Certainly odd, but it grows on you. Better as it warms, and a nice choice to have with Christmas cookies.

AROMAT: Przyprawy korzenne (głównie imbir z kardamonem).

Bottle. Pours opaque dark coffee brown with medium brown head. Aroma is prunes, dried ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, port wine, orange peel and brown sugar (exactly the same ingredients as go into my homemade "glřgg" extract). Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter, light acidic, light umami and faint salty. Body is oily to syrupy with soft carbonation. Finish is long, rich and complex with notes of "glřgg", gravy, coffee, Christmas cookies, Christmas pudding, raw licorice and all the spices mentioned above. Definitely "peculiar" and definitely "Christmas". Thumbs up for brewing something different!

Dark brown, clear, looks like coca-cola. The aroma reminds me of coca-cola too. There are plenty of christmas spices in the taste and dry maltiness in the background. Medium carbonation, medium body. Not outright bad, but not particularly enjoyable either.

Trevlig, men speciell!

Dark nutty brown appearance with some head. Tastes of glřgg, cinnamon and Christmas seasonings. Medium, dry body, a bit aggressive carbonation, and a glřggy finish. A bit too dry and seasony

Dark brown colour, large coffee cream coloured head. Mostly cloves with cinnamon and ginger along with gingerbread doughy in parts. Little bit of sweetness there, some plums, prunes, raisins and chocolate malt in the flavour but quite a dry beer. Spices are not as overpowering as they were in the aroma.

Dark amber in color, Has a strong, in your face, spiced aroma. Has ginger, nutmeg cinnamon, and cloves for flavor. You can definitely tell that this is a Christmas Beer. Pure Deliciousness
