2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Miksu (3887) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - FEB 8, 2009
0.5 l bottle from K-market Länsiväylä, Jyväskylä. Hazy yellow color with fluffy head. Perfumed, spicy and citrusy aroma with orange, grapefruit, coriander, pepper and meat broth. Strongly spicy flavor with orange, lemon, grapefruit, coriander and pepper. There is an overload of spices giving this beer unpleasantly bitter, meaty and soapy edge.

Hazy honey gold hue, with a fluffy white head, but falls quickly, yeasty, very nice spicy nose of coriander, with herbal, floral lavender accent, with a good wheaten malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, zesty, citrusy character, of orange, grapefruit peel , with a wheaty, kind of lactic mouthfeel, with an intense coriander spiciness, leading towards a zesty, lime citrusy finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hansen (4227) - Assentoft, DENMARK - DEC 31, 2008
Orange colour and unclear. Has a white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of sweet citrus, orange, perhaps spice. Flavor starts moderate sweet, gets astringent pretty soon. Dry texture. Soft carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3412) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 29, 2008
The pour reveals a hazy golden color with a thin white head. The aroma is quite interesting, yeast, herbs and spices were found along with some hops. The falvor has a solid presence of citrusy hops, which is rare in a witbier, there’s also herbs, spices and yeast, it’s pleasantly dry and bitter in the end. The body is light to medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. I’m not a fan of witbier, but this one is very good and definitely underrated.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 27, 2008
In short: An tasty, unusually dry and hoppy witbier. Good stuff. Underrated.
How: Bottle 0.5L, drank fresh a week after receiving through private importation
The look: Cloudy orange golden body topped by a long-lasting small white head
In long: Strong herbal spiciness nature with coriander and dry herbs of some kind. Lots of dry yeast, orange peels, dried oranges, crisp honey. A lot more hops than average for the style (leafy and citrusy) and the finish is surprisingly very dry and a strong astrigency. Very drinkable, dry, original. Having a lot of wit is good whether hitting on a girl or getting back home after the girl turned you down.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 27, 2008
Bottle: Poured a lightly hazy medium yellow color ale with an average foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma is dominated by loads of coriander with some very light wheat malt also discernable. Taste is also dominated by some coriander with some light traces of wheat malt. Body is definitely too thin even for the style with some average carbonation. This one is OK at beast but mot something I would go for very often.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tlind2 (815) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 16, 2008
500 ml bottle. Slightly cloudy straw color, lasting white head. Spicy aroma with distinct coriander notes. Zesty flavor with an unexpected hop kick, bitter finish. Medium body, med-high carbonation. Not what I would expect from witbier, but not altogether unpleasant either.
