4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 abstractbeer (170) - NORWAY - MAY 7, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2010 This was my first real "epiphany" in the craft beer world. A fantastically balanced hoppy, fruity beauty which, like your favorite pornstar, never fails to fulfill! Its golden hazy appearance is wonderful and the sweetness/bitterness balance is great! Aroma is floral with lots of coriander and some vanilla notes and a general fruitiness. It’s very rich and satisfying, very very well balanced and so drinkable it’s scary.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ClubGonzo (1732) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 6, 2010
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 Pours a hazy light orange body crowned with a dense, foamy white head. Smell is very sweet, with cinnamon and clove as main components. Taste is also sweet, with wheat, clove and a lingering grassy hop bitterness in the background to balance the whole thing. Very drinkable. refreshing and simply surprisingly delicious; this must be my favorite Nøgne Ø brew for the Norwegian commercial store market so far.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 probstk (1911) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2010
0,5 l bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Batch 295, BB 040709.
App.: Slightly hazy deep golden with a moderate-small white head.
Aroma: Perfumed, earthy coriander, some yeast, bright citrus, light esters and a touch of Saison-like bitter herbals.
Palate: Medium+ body, sparse effervescence.
Flav.: Much like the nose but a little more harsh, more bitter herbs, pine/peppery/green hops; slightly off-dry with surprising bitterness for the style and an earthy, slightly dusty citrus finish.
A bit different for the style. Held up well with age!
