UPDATED: SEP 8, 2012 Rerate- deep black pour. The nose is a little bit toasty and spicy. Some moderately fruity dark character. A little bit of blackberry but the yeast is quite spicy and a little bit of light licorice. Nice when it doesn’t have the sourness I’ve seen in previous samples. Deep black pour with a thin tan head. The aroma has a little bit of anise and so e soft roasted malt. A little bit of blackberry fruitiness and maybe a bit of blueberry as well. There is a little bit of light roast, but there is also a bit of sourness that I could probably do without. There is a bit of watery character to the brew. Meh 6 4 5 2 10

(Rating #2674)

750 ml bottle from Jovi, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Gusher.

App.: Deep brown black with a nice light mocha head. Aroma: Tangy black coffee and dark chocolate, some light pine hop notes, some black strap molasses, very deep and dark. Palate: Medium-full body, sparse effervescence, smooth and a touch powdery. Flav.: Grapes, other fruits, still lots of black coffee, some dark chocolate, not tangy like the nose, some hop notes; dry with fair bitterness and a light coffee-like finish.

Made a mess but tasted good.

Bouteille 750ml.

very black pour, and a nice mocha head. Aroma is not very deep. there are some roasty notes with a little bit of coffee, but its pretty muted. The flavor thought is VERY roasty, lots of roasted malt, some big coffee notes int he finish with a nice dose of bitterness.

Boutip (4726) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 22, 2009
Bottle: Poured a medium black color stout with an average size foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light dry roasted malt notes with some dry coffee notes. Taste is also a mix between some dry coffee notes with some light roasted malt. Body is way too thin for the style with some spritzy carbonation that is not really appropriate for the style. Not exactly something I would wish to try again.

Lubiere (9999) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2009
A deep dark stout with a thick collapsing moka head. A classy chocolate aroma with moka coffee. In mouth, a good cold coffee, bitter chocolate and herbaceous notes. Medium bodied. 750 ml bottle. March 29 2009.

Bottle - 750ml. Opaque black body with average carbonation and a thick, diminishing beige frothy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with roasty, coffeeish and black chocolate hints. Taste lacks complexity and ends with a fair bitter/roasty finish. Very drinkable.
