3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2007 (Bottled) Hazy dark reddish brown with a smallish, tanned and mostly fading head. A bit scotch-ale-like, sweet and toffeeish aroma with roasted malt, berries, banana, and hints of alcohol. Slightly sweet-malty, banana-fruity flavor with some hop bitterness all the way, and a dryish, roasty, but only mildly ashy finish. Some lactic sourness, too. Medium-bodied, pretty smooth palate with soft, medium carbonation. A sweetish, but balanced and surprisingly ale-like brew. A very pleasant surprise from Nokian Panimo, and definitely their best brew so far!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy brown beer with sparse light brown head. Aroma is hoppy lager with hints of sweet malt. Berry-like fresh taste with surprising hop bitterness and light dose of roast malt for the style. Smooth palate with sharp carbonation that pronounces the hops. Very pleasant but not perfectly balanced. My favorite Finnish lager so far. 170208

ZBF 2008 Thanks to FatPhil for sharing this: Pours hazy dark amber with red highlights. Small off-white lasting head. Nice deep rich malt with some burnt sugars and layers of caramel and roast on top of each other. Raisin, a touch of cinnamon and some low noble hop character. Flavor is smooth roast but not burnt. Toffee, caramel, toast and biscuit. Decent finish with biscuit, short-bread and treacle.

Brown color and average carbonation. Medium body with lightly roasted but very malty flavor. Very well balanced beer. Easy to pair with basic food like smoked salmon or pork chops.

Very nice. There are good Finnish beers, it’s just quite an effort to find them.
