gunhaver (610), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Can, courtesy CigarCityBrew. Pours a dark tea color copper, fizzy white head, with lots of lacing. Biscuity malt nose, cereal, chocolate, some wheat. Heavy malt flavors, caramel malts, some soft chocolate. Smooth, very drinkable, crisp and refreshing. Despite the rating I enjoyed this a lot. Dark brown. Average foamy white head. Aroma is yeasty and malty. Sweet malt taste. Smooth mouthfeel and short finish. Very drinkable. (6/4/6/4/14 3.4)
Bottled, unfiltered (BB 12/2004)
Dark ruby with tanned medium head. Sweet aroma: raisins. Crisp, freshing, malty, a bit thin. Aftertaste is bitterish, crispy. (6/4/6/4/14 3.4)
Re-rated, bottled, new label "Kommodori" (BB 06/2005)
Dark ruby, vanishing tanned head. Lots of carbonation, like a Coke. A bit skunked hoppy and caramel nose. Good malty body, lots of CO2 in mouthfeel + some roasty tones, finishing slightly hoppy. Lacks harshness of normal Finnish lager but nothing very special. (5/4/5/3/12 2.9) Dragonblaze99 (246), Greater London, England Feb 23, 2002 Not bad for a Finnish dark lager. Sweetish taste with enough malt and hops (for ONCE!). Dorqui (1283), Brescia, Italy Jan 31, 2006 Updated: Sep 16, 2007Bottled 0,33L. Creamy and enough compact foam, good adhesion and duration. Burnt red color, enough limpid and with medium fizz. Bitterish scent with light notes of musk and burned wood. Enough pungent taste, not too much dense and enough balanced on the end. Pleasant bitter and modest alcohol; lightly watery but altogether pleasant.
Thanks to mabjork for this beer. maeib (3917), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Sep 20, 2006 Canned - Bruxellensis - Courtesy of Dan Shelton. A very dark brown coloured beer with a ring of tan bubbles. The aroma is smoky and a little fusty old. The taste is dry and woody. Brown fruits show themselves. Unusual vienna. My tasting of this with no prior knowledge of the beer called it as a Brown Ale.
