7th Street Wheat” started out as our Summer seasonal, but cue to its popularity has made its own place in our year round ales. Named in honor of the 7th Street wharf across the street from the brewery, this filtered wheat ale is light-bodied American style with pounds of fresh lemon-basil added after fermentation. The light citrus taste with a hint of spicy herb on the back goes well with almost any seafood dish, and from what we hear, is a favorite at bars as a stand alone refreshing beer.

can shared that poured a light orange to yellow color with white head. if this is the correct one for lemon basil. I was really kind of disappointed I was expecting more lemon and basil and got very little basil and some mild lemon. the flavor gives more lemon in the carbonation but that is all..was expecting something more and was left holding nothing...

NOLA 7th Street Lemon Basil Wheat has a thin, white head, a mostly clear, golden appearance, some lazy bubbly streams, and narrow lacing left behind. A gray sediment cloud was evident, after I swished and poured in the bottom can contents. The aroma is of faint white wheat bread and spice, and the taste is similarly low profile (dull, if you will). Lots of water, some basil, and some white pepper are picked up in the flavor. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and NOLA 7th Street Lemon Basil Wheat finishes mostly dry and very highly drinkable (like water). RJT

From a can. Pours opaque gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like corn, citrus, toasted malt. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like corn, cereal malt, musky grains, and faint citrus.

Pale gold with a meringue, one finger head and a lemon, slightly basil nose. Easy intro with very little carbonation, a thin mouthfeel, followed by a mild lemon and basil finish.

On tap @ NOLA. Cloudy pale yellow/orange with a very small off-white head. Aroma of spice, lemon peel, herbal tea, and basil. Flavor has more wheat grass and vegetable notes added in. Finish is wheat and herbs.

Draft on tap at the brewery (New Orleans, LA). Pours a hazy golden orange hue, a bit of hazy dulled body with nice glowing orange bottom and edges. Loose frothy whitish head atop stays as a decent filmy layer, loose ringer laces small overall. Aromas are a bit spicy, yeasty with bread dough, straw, some cereal grains. Gentle fruity element shows a bit of earth, faint basil spice, earth and citrusy lemon, gentle fruit. Initial is lighter end of the fold in body, some earthiness, grain, gentle lemon, earth, touches of fruit. Mellow basil spice catches into the middle, some apple, gentle fruity ester. Yeastiness, touch of bitterness. Crusty bread and earth, bread dough, cereal grains hit a bit more into the backend. Gentle spiciness, earth, spice and white bread as we start to finish. Gentle fruit, cool and cleaner as we finish. Solid stuff. Basil and lemon play well together, quite drinkable stuff.

Very bland and unappealing taste. If it weren't for the telltale wheat taste I would have thought I might be drinking water. NOLA makes many other far superior beers - skip this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
