3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft on tap at the brewery (New Orleans, LA). Pours a hazy golden orange hue, a bit of hazy dulled body with nice glowing orange bottom and edges. Loose frothy whitish head atop stays as a decent filmy layer, loose ringer laces small overall. Aromas are a bit spicy, yeasty with bread dough, straw, some cereal grains. Gentle fruity element shows a bit of earth, faint basil spice, earth and citrusy lemon, gentle fruit. Initial is lighter end of the fold in body, some earthiness, grain, gentle lemon, earth, touches of fruit. Mellow basil spice catches into the middle, some apple, gentle fruity ester. Yeastiness, touch of bitterness. Crusty bread and earth, bread dough, cereal grains hit a bit more into the backend. Gentle spiciness, earth, spice and white bread as we start to finish. Gentle fruit, cool and cleaner as we finish. Solid stuff. Basil and lemon play well together, quite drinkable stuff.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very bland and unappealing taste. If it weren't for the telltale wheat taste I would have thought I might be drinking water. NOLA makes many other far superior beers - skip this one.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
November 4th, 2012 - NOLA’s 7th St. Wheat is the first beer to greet me after my arrival in this wonderful city. New Orleans has a lot going for it, but after this brew - and others - the beer culture is not one of them. My first hint came with this brew. The dim light of the bar gives this a very murky, very hazy look, though if unfiltered, it’ll look murky wherever I am. But the smell has something on it I’ve never sensed before: refrigerated butter. Not popcorn butter, but something more muted, cleaner, and less distinctive, and a bit strange. When it lands on the tongue, this wheat inflates like a sponge in water, puffing up and out, delivering a brow furrowing combination of sour notes, some wheat, an acidified butter aftertaste, and a cloudy palate that desperately tries to clean the whole mess up. Drinking this is like watching somebody cause an accident, and then clean it up under the assumption that nobody is looking.

3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: cloudy yellow orange color, poured from tap, not too much head
Aroma: aroma is not too strong, smell slight lemon when I get a big whiff
Taste: lemon and basil are the strong key notes in the beer, these flavors are definitely prominent, also taste spices
Palette: leaves the tongue a little dry, light body
Overall: this is a very refreshing beer, different, first beer I have had with basil and I find it very interesting
