COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is the culmination of over 30 years of brewing by our Brewmaster, Peter ‘Hopzilla’ Caddoo. Created at our Tchoupitoulas Street brewery, our India Pale Ale was hand crafted with six malts and six hops. This big, beautiful beer is dry hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe hops to accentuate aromas of citrus and pine. Grab a Hopitoulas and taste the passion and dedication that has gone into this brew.

Tap at avenue pub. Pours orange with nice head. Nice hoppy nose. Tastes of grapefruit, pine, earth, caramel, and peppers. Enjoyable first brew while in country

From the can. Off white head. Tight bubbles. Nice lacing. Light copper in color. Very clear. Piney citrus aroma. Same flavors with the taste. Great bitterness.

Had this from a tall boy at Portobello's Grill in Baton Rouge. Appearance: Pours with a huge white creamy to rocky head, with good retention and fair lacing. The body is amber to orange and very clear. Aroma: There's pine and citrus on the nose from the hops, a bit of straw from the malt, and some slight bandage. Palate: Hopitoulas has a medium, oily body that coats the mouth, with an average amount of carbonation. Taste: The taste lingers for an average amount of time, finishing slightly bitter, which is to be expected from an IPA. This IPA is moderate to heavy on its sweetness, which acts to balance the beer, leaving it moderately bitter and lightly acidic. This is a solid beer by one of my local favorites ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at Sander’s place, NYC. Not crazy about this beer. Pours clear copper with a moderate, creamy-foamy head. Nose holds some dry caramel, earth pine and herbal hops. Light to medium sweet flavor, more dry, toasty caramel, herbal and lightly astringent bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Some toasty malts to finish, bit of dried caramel, elderly pine and herbs. So so. Might be a little old.

Thanks to Nick fro bringing back this growler. Amber pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, nuttiness and floral piney hops. Sweet flavor throughout with a touch of piney hops coming through on the end. Not bad just a little under done.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Pours a golden orange on tap with thin white head and light lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus from the hops, with a hint of pale and caramel malts. Taste follows, with a clean and crisp finish. Good stuff when its fresh, much worse out of the can than on tap.

16oz can. This was an awesome IPA. Perfect after a long day walking around New Orleans. Very hoppy and crisp with nice floral, citrus and pine flavors.

Tap on Bourbon Street. Hazy dull deep amber-tan-brown. Big foamy off-white head. Much more enjoyable than their Blonde or Wheat, this is a respectable medium to full bodied IPA. Middle of the road hop wise, pretty classic orange-pine hop taste. Standard but enjoyable.

Two days in a row of over 10 beer reviews… my creative wordsmithing has severely diminished. This beer has a bright, reddish orange color and a dense white head. Its aroma is nice and smooth, but with a somewhat jagged edge to it that’s slightly citrusy and, honestly, almost plastic-like. Mostly, though, it smells of wet hops and fermented grains, sweet and delicious. Its flavor is nice as well. It has a great body that’s heavy enough to support the beer’s robust hops and moderate caramel malts. This is a great-balanced beer.

We had this beer at the 2013 Tops of the Hops in Biloxi, MS. It was not for me. Too bug spray-ish.
