COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(Draught) Pours dark brown to black. The aroma is very malty with tones of burned crisp bread, dark bread, some wood and earthy/herbal hops. The flavour is soft roasted with notes of chocolate, dark bread, crisp bread and some liquorice as well as hints of dark fruit and wood. The mouthfeel is round and soft. Medium bodied.

Tap @ the brewpub.
Pours deep red with a small, creamy, beige head. Stays for a very long time. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, red wine, grapes, oak. Low carbonation, silky creamy mouthfeel. Still feels rather light actually. Sweet flavour, creamy milky chocolate, softly roasted, vinious, some fruity grapes-ish feel. Long, nice roasted finish with light oak and a slight brett-y note to it. Nice!

Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and oak. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, and chocolate as well as lighter notes of wood. The mouthfeel is very soft due to low carbonation. The body seems lighter than in the non barrel aged version.

Draught at EBF 08. Black, no head. Nose is light, some chocolate, lots of rich oakiness. Mouth is toasted, oaky, vanilla, some burnt tones. Finishes lasting on the burntness, woody, silky. Really good.

Draught at Nørrebro Bryghus on 5th Birthday Party, Ryesgade 3, 2200 Copenhagen, Denmark. Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy - virtually none, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, vanilla notes, alcohol, oak notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is flat. 110908

On tap at Nørrebro’s 5 year anniversary. An almost black pour leaves a small, diminishing tan head. Chocolate, coffee, notes of dried fruits, sugar and an oaky touch in the aroma. The flavor has some vanilla in addition to the chocolate, coffee, sugary sweetness and hops that are doing most of the work. Lasting finish with sweetness and some vanilla. Full-bodied and al¬most sticky sweet. A really nice one, but I think I prefer the non-wooded version. (080911)

Draught at EBF. Black, small loose beige head. Strongly oaky aroma with little liquorice. Flavor is tartish, with liquorice, oak and syrupy maltiness. Medium bodied, low carbonation. No, oak barrel ain’t no miracle worker.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2009 (On tap) Pours black and opaque with a small light brown head. Soft aroma of roasted malt and some wood and alcohol. Full-bodied with sweetish, hard roasted malts but not burned and harsh at all. Accents also of sweet dried fruits and again a mellow touch of wood. Very discreet bitterness. 130908
