English: An extra strong version of our London style porter, brewed in January 2009. After primary and secondary fermentation for three months on tank, the beer was racked into French oak barrels, previously used for a Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux wine. After 11 months in the barrel, the beer is silky smooth and full bodied with rich chocolaty malt flavours, some red wine character and hints of vanilla and oak. Surprisingly dry on the palate, smooth and easy drinking with a complex, sweet aftertaste.
Ingredients: Barley malt, honey and hops.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is dark fruits, red wine, vanilla, oak, something tart, and chocolate. Flavour is much like the aroma – with a dry finish.

Opaque black beer, no real head. Light semi dry palate. Low carbonation. Tangy dark malt, not bitter or roasty, vague wood and red wine. It’s well joined up but quite subtle. Finishes light and semi dry and with more tangy malt and red wine.

0.33l bottle from from Ølbutikken. This one pours a dark dark brown - near black body with a small quickly sidesticking and bubbly chocolaty hear. It’s really really vinious on the aroma! Almost like nosing a Cabernet.. Also some strong chocolate tones here with subtle light sour-ish hints of wood and red berries. It has a well-oily texture and it’s softly carbonated. The taste is also really really vinious and somewhat oxidized with wood, tons of red berries, roasted malts and it’s quite light acidic (can I say that?). Really tasty and really different. I liked it, but I can understand that it might get a bit to much for some. 04.04.2012

Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and red wine. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish. 060412

Almost no head, pitch dark. fantastic nose where the cabernet is so evident! Dark soft fat liquorice, red berries, meat, vanilla, Medium body (surprisingly!) and some length. a bit sour/oxidized tone, berries: Blueberries, Blackcurrant, Chockolate in the exit. A perfect beer for sipping and wondering about. Only problem is taht the 33 cl doesnt last so long as the beer is very tasy, mysterious, weird and you must try it again and again to explore the ever evolving taste. Damn good beer.

Cool looking bottle here and courtesy of nbutler11. It pours clear amber – brown with thin tan head. The aroma has bold molasses, toffee and then red wine fruity tartness mixing with sweet vanilla notes. I’m not used to red wine and vanilla coming together like this let alone red wine and sort of molasses and toffee. This is interesting stuff. The taste has nice smooth sweet red wine notes slipping and sliding into molasses, toffee and some dark roasted maltiness mingling with vanilla. Very interesting stuff starting from the nose right to the after taste.

Bottle shared by storminorman @ Woodshed 1.0! Crazy bottles brought to this event and this was one of them! Dark black pour with very simple khaki head that diminishes to nothingness. Aroma of oak, vanilla, cocoa, coffee, and cherry skin. Very vinous with the wine barrel showing, heavy tannins with the chocolate, raisin, and plum present. Dry.
