Vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate intertwine in this silky and quite drinkable Sweet Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the brown-lined blackness.
-This is rather lean for a 7.5% Stout.
-Complexity is not really at play here, but all of the sweet malts and coffee nicely coalesce.
-The bubbles are tiny and quiet, leaving plenty of room for the malts to express themselves.

Pours a slightly cloudy dark brown, minimal brown head, with light visible carbonation. Great nose of coffee grounds and roasted barley with a little bit of earthy yeast. The flavor is pretty astringent, but managable. Lots of dark roast coffee, and zero perceptable alcohol. Long lingering coffee finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little watery in texture, with nice soft carboination. Overall, pretty decent, especially for a coffee lover. Darkover (1319), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Oily, thick, gloopy pour, surprisingly with a decent head and carbonation on top. Barely detectable coffee in the nose, overpowered by a fruity, and at times lactic aroma. Sweet stout indeed, and a nice well-balanced one at that. But there’s just not a whole lot of the coffee in there, making it a bit too sweet for what I was expecting. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The aroma is rich espresso with a little bit of chocolate and raisin. The flavor is strong, smooth espresso, black cherry, and a bit of roasty sourness. Uncomplicated, but good. Poured a dark brown with a thin off-white head that left spotty lacing. Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor had sweet chocolate but also a bitter espresso coffee. Medium body. Sweet up front but a bitter coffee aftertaste. Nice! lithy (1860), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Deep dark pitch black with hints of earth brown at the edge. A tan ring of head circles the top of the drink. Cold espresso and black cherries. Solid smooth body and a flavor of cold ground coffee beans is actually refreshing. Long finish of bitter coffee.
