COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: 491 bottles of 37,5 cl made.

375mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany / maroon with a small beige head. Nose is a bit oxidized, with notes of cognac, caramel, and residual sugar. Flavour brings out cherry-coated chocolate, liqueur, cocoa, and a touch of heat. Surprisingly not that sweet - it seems the sweetness has fermented out quite a bit. Finishes on notes of liqueur and alcohol. Very complex. A slow sipper.

Thanks to David for this in trade. Ruby brown with virtually no head. Aroma is raisins, brown sugar, caramel, cocoa. Medium-full bodied, slightly sticky mouthfeel, sweet on the palate with a fruity finish. Flavours are chocolate, raisins, fig, prunes, dates, honey. Absolutely delicious.

Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Aaron. Big thanks for this one man! Pour is murky brown with a small tan head that quickly dissipated. Big caramelly, oaky, sweet cognac, bourbon notes, burnt sugar, coconut, vanilla, and nutty aroma. Taste is rich caramel malts, toasted sugars, port barrels, oaky, vanilla, coconut, and bread with a sweet finish. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Really cool beer to try and great to have such a large pour.

Bottle @ Stephen’s house. Pours a bit murky reddish brown appearance with very little head. Fairly tannic, dark grape, caramel, vanilla, quite oaky nose. Smooth and rounded aroma. A touch of smoke. Nice mouth feel. Burnt toffee / candy, dark chocolate, plum, a bit vinous, raisin flavor. Super fucken smooth. Highly complex and delicious. Thanks to Henrik "Bad Ass Mother Fucker" Papsoe!

Pour out of 375 ml bottle, dark brownish pour with thin to no head, aroma brought notes of big brown sugar, dark fruit, oak, earth, hints of nice cognac, hints of earth, slight yeast. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, toffee, nice cognac, hints of earth, slight grainy notes, touch of cherry, finishing fairly bitter, sweet.

Bottle split at Slap the Jackl tasting, big round of applause to Scopey Paul for hauling in all 4 of the series, this was the last of the evening, 12/05/14. Dark mahogany brown with little in the way of a head. Nose is figs, dark fruit rinse, toffee, dark malts, spice, brown sugars, fruitloaf, light booze. Taste comprises sweet licks, oxidised tones, brown sugar, fruit loaf, spice, sweet pangs. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet and lightly drying close. Ok, least enjoyable of the bunch, the most oxidised still just about sippable.

Bottle, shared @ the Jack the Sipper tasting. It pour hazy deep brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich, earthy, wood, boozy dried berry, old leather couch and light oxidized notes. The taste is sweet, figgy pudding, brown sugar, earth, plum, raisin, candy, wood and warming alcohol with a slick, sweet finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Still very sweet indeed, but fun to try. Nice figgy pudding element to it. Good.

Bottle shared in London - huge thanks to Paul. Pours hazy brown with a bubbly, tan head. Great nose for an old B-wine, lots of toffee, aged fruits, light feet, old ship wood. Big sweet flavor with gooey coffee, some alcohol-soaked dried fruits, major raisins, dates and figs, some fruit cake. Full bodied with fine carbonation and chewy mouthfeel. Warm finish with lots of liquefied dark fruits, buckets of old dates and figs, toffee. Delicious. Rich. Decadent. Excellent.

Bottle @ jack the sipper. Deep brown with a tight head. Chocolate donut, bear claw. Knackered red berry and grapes. Taste is very sweet. Oxidised and papery. So unabashedly sweet. Earthy leather covered in sugar. Cocoa. Medium body, oily. Nice.

375mL graciously shared at the SDBW kickoff bottleshare. Pours a full haze, muddy brown with very low carbonation appearing near flat. Ring of yellow bubbles. Nose is mild orange mint, toffee, vanilla, Grand Marnier style orange liquor. Taste is dusty, sticky, oxidized. Palate is cellar dusty, some sherry oxidation, brown sugar. Nice dessert sipper, but the flavors take some work to appreciate now so mellowed.
