Bottle traded from paulhegedus. Very cloudy brown, with lacing, and little floaty bits. Aroma of marshmallow and raisins. Sweet marshmallow and raisin flavour as well. Only slight hint of alcohol in the taste. I could do with a little more bitterness, but it is very good as is. Actually the more I drink it, the more the sweetness becomes an issue.

Bottle shared by kevinsenn. Aroma not dissimilar to 4th Dementia. Toasted marshmallow, raisin, and wood. Possible hint of vanilla. Pours a cloudy, ugly brown with no head. Flavour is gorgeous. 4th Dementia and Dragon’s Milk, minus the blue cheese. Caramel, marshmallow, and whiskey... Sweet, but not overly sweet. This is absolutely lovely! Not worth $20, but possibly $10 or $15. Even the flavour that comes out of my burp is happy and good. I love this stuff. Somebody get me a clone recipe. Later adjustment: sweetness gets a bit overwhelming after a while. I keep wanting to adjust my score as I drink it... The sweetness is just too much, even the 250 mL.

33 cl. bottle @ home. (2010) pours a dark brown hazy colour, no head. The aroma is very complex; dark fruits, nuttiness, plum and cherries, chocolate and a hint of toffee. the taste is very complex aswell, but mainly dominated by raisin and chocolate. slightly alcoholic, but not unpleasent. almost sherry like

Small head. Dark brown, christmassy smell. A flavor that reminds me very much of julmust, but with an apparent alcohol content. Not very bitter, but still rich in aroma. Goes well with fatty food or on its own, but a bit too strong to imbibe a lot of.

Very dark and sweet beer. Feels like sirup. Difficult decision if i like it or not. Need more tests.

Bottle at home. Nice sweet aroma, notes of anis acohol. Dark amber hazy color, small white head. Very rich taste, malty hoppy alcohol, super nice! I just love Barley Wine. Bolton Brew Rocks !!

Bottle (2006 vintage)... Poured a dense amber with a thin, khaki head. A superbly aged Barleywine. Dark malts, fortified raisins and other dark fruits. Hardly any oxidation while still some resemblance of hop tones, even with all the age. Thick, and full bodied.

An opaque amber color with a small off-white head. Very good malt sweetness on the nose. Tons of caramel and brown sugar along with some dark fruit and toffee. A definite vanilla note and some hints of chocolate. Tons of malt sweetness on the palate, too. Huge caramel, maple syrup, toffee, and brown sugar flavors. Great fruit accents of plum, raisin, and black cherry. Subtle vanilla tones to it as well.
