Bottle (2006 vintage)... Poured a dense amber with a thin, khaki head. A superbly aged Barleywine. Dark malts, fortified raisins and other dark fruits. Hardly any oxidation while still some resemblance of hop tones, even with all the age. Thick, and full bodied.

An opaque amber color with a small off-white head. Very good malt sweetness on the nose. Tons of caramel and brown sugar along with some dark fruit and toffee. A definite vanilla note and some hints of chocolate. Tons of malt sweetness on the palate, too. Huge caramel, maple syrup, toffee, and brown sugar flavors. Great fruit accents of plum, raisin, and black cherry. Subtle vanilla tones to it as well.

Bottle. Aroma of wood, prunes and abricot. Dark amber colour with small beige head. Sweet flavour of dried fruits and alcohol, a bit like portwine but with a nice slightly bitter aftertaste from the hops. Oily texture.

On 40 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Storo,Oslo. Dark color, some foam. Aromas of dried fruit, some malt- quite intense. Full body & high complexity. Immediate sweetness, high alcohol- good balance. Medium/ high viscosity. Very enjoyable

Bottle, purchased from LCBO some time ago, consumed at the 2012 philosophy hazing party. Dark brown/caramel pour with off white head. Aroma of molasses, plums, port, caramel, all things sweet. Taste is pretty much the same, rich malty sweetness with just enough bittering hops to balance it a bit. Pretty good, but not worth the price I paid for it.

Flaske 0,4l fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Drukket hjemme 14 Aug 12. Dyp rubinrød. Lavt, litt farget skum. Sterk og god sherryaroma. Litt søt. Fløyelsmyk munnfølelse. Smaken er (over)moden frukt + mandler. Ettersmaken er syrlig frukt. Varer lenge. En utmerket drikk - men vel så mye sherry som øl. KI=7

Bottle from the local taphouse shop. Great taste, malt-driven. Aromas of caramel, toffee, cherry, and spice. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Dark brown, with a thin head.

Bottle enjoyed by the traditional midsummer bonfire on the beautiful Kjerringøy, Norway under the midtnight sun. Vintage 2007. Has a hazy brownish amber colour with small yellowish head. Flavours of leather, wood, licorice and caramel. A nice balanced flavour with a fantastic sweet taste along with liqueur, more dried fruit, leather, pine and some alcohol. Rich and soft mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. This was a really good barley wine!
