Tab @ CBF. Clear amber pour with minimal tanned head. Aroma has caramel and much sweetness, berries, dark grapes and a nice, hoppy balance. Very fruity and sweet, but excellent. Taste has huge malt sweetness, some of the same berries and maybe some brown sugar. The hops reveal themselves in the finish. Medium to large body, medium carbonation, medium to long duration.

Thanks to NoLiberty for opening this via Shaun E. Hill...
Appears a hazy brown with a small, off white cap. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of heavy sugary, caramel, toffee, vanilla, fruit, and gentle hopping.
Taste is of resinous, sticky sugar, raisins, ripe fruit, oak, vanilla, and a touch of molasses.
Mouthfeel is sticky, hoppy, sugary, smooth, with mild heat shown from the abv.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 BeerChaser0078 (909) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 4, 2009
Bottle. Pours very hazy copper with a nice beige head that dissipates to a ring around the top. Aroma is sweet but also has a nice bitter element as well; notes of toffee, brown sugar, butterscotch, malt and caramel all stand out as well as some lesser suggestions of portwine and dark fruits (raisins, dates). Flavour is pretty similar but surprisingly not as sweet as it sounds; that’s not to say that its not sweet, it is, but the sweetness is softened by the bitterness coming from the hops and malt as well as the vinous qualities imparted by the port and bordeaux barrels. The flavour also has a hint of berries that doesn’t show up in the aroma. Smooth, slightly sticky mouthfeel with both sweetness and bitterness lingering on the finish. One of the nicest monsters I’ve ever met.

Unclear amber-coloured, ok head and lacings. Aroma is yeast, hops, and chocolate. Flavor of chocolate, berries, plums, banana, kiwi, a bit alcohol and ends quite bitter. Soft and thick palate. Nice!

On tap at CBF.
Hazy light brown body with a tan head and long lacings.

Nice prune-raisin aftertaste with weak bitter notes and a good balance.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lassem (650) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2009
Bottle 50 cl. Dark moisty limpopo-brown with a nice tanned head. The nose is vinoes and the port notes are up front with some laqurice, brown sugar and vanilla. The taste is pretty sweet with cinnamon and clove notes. The palate is a little creamy with a huge mouthfeel. The barrel-aging is constantly present and takes you all the way to the sweet sweet finish. I could only do a single glass of this beer - but as a single glass to some greasy meat it ill be great. -
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChrisThomson (522) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 18, 2010
500mL bottle from DK. Pours dark amber with zero head. Not a huge nose, but nice notes of vanilla, oak and spice. Body is very malty, spicy with good hop bite. Finish a bit too bitter and long for my liking.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 andersand (521) - Malmö, SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2009
Deep reddish amber with a small but persistent beige head that leaves some nice lazings on my snifter. Aroma is sweet malty with notes of vanilla, wood, light hops and fine liqour. Mouthfeel is quite sticky and medium bodied. Flavour is very complex, woody, fruity and sweet with a lovely bitter caramell finish that lasts forever with lingering fine liqour notes. Warming as a barleywine should be, perfect for a cold swedish autumn night. Now after alittle age it dances perfectly on the line between english and american barleywine with its strong attack, caramell and hop bitterness versus the deep sticky older malt sweetness and the fine complex sherry notes.
