Draught at NB. Very dark brown with a reddish note at the rim. Dense white-brown head. Aromas of liquorice, dark chocolate and hops. The flavour is roasted with a bit of coffee and some acidity from the roasted malts. Hoppy aftertaste mixes with notes from the dark malts. A fine schwarzbier. NOPALE NOALE, WINNER OF DM I HAANDBRYG 2007, ORIGINAL BREW, SAMPLED SUMMER 07: Dark brown colour, aromas of dark roasted coffee with sweet caramel notes too. Mild hoppy flavours in the background. Smooth on the palate with just a hint of acidity from the roasted malts and roasted barley. Light bodied and extremely drinkable. A masterpiece and probably the best schwarzbier I’ve ever had. (Draught) Pours a very dark brown colour with some red hints. The aroma is medium malty with some roasted tones of chocolate, coffee and dark bread alongside some toast. Some liquorice. Light to medium hoppy with tones of flowers and grass. The flavour is of roasted malt with tones of chocolate and light coffee. Some grass and toast in the flavour as well. Some liquorice in the finish. The mouthfeel is soft but also very crisp. Some hop bitterness and some roast bitterness lingers. Medium bodied.

Dark brown color. Some caramel aroma. Good body strength, but a bit too much roasted malt and chocolate for me.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2009 (On tap) Clear reddish brown with a small, off-white head. Roasted malt aroma with a light fruitiness. Light in body with dry, roasted malts and some vanilla. Vague ashy notes. The finish is dry and the carbonation is a little high. But a very decent brew. 080308

Deep dark amber colored, little lasting light brown head. Rich coffee dominates this sweet aroma with chocolate and some yeast. Medium bodied. Flavor is more hopped with still this sweet chocolate and caramel. Aftertaste turns to yeasty-flowery with some Danish vegetably note, chocolate still present. Finely carbonated palate, good beer.
