andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Nov 5, 2009 Quite dark amber in colour, aroma is hoppy but sweet with a big malt foundation. Flavour is similar with a dominant sweetness balanced by a extreme bitter ending. Quite fruity and toffeish. sfhodense (554), Odense NØ, Denmark Oct 6, 2009 Old notes from DØE Valby 07. Randalized version. Extreme hop but still in balance. I really like this beer. When i got it, it was tje hoppiest beer, i have ever tasted (a few hours later did I taste Mikkeller hop juice, so that record didn’t last long). Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2009 Bottle: Pours cloudy and light brown, big bubbly head. Aroma is very sweet and malty, peppery, plenty of fruits. Flavour is awesome - toffee malts and sweet fruits all disguising a heavy hop bomb, exceedingly well balanced. Unexpected and beautiful, had no idea it was over 9% based on what I was tasting. Excellent work. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 4, 2009 500 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a hazy copper-amber with a big fluffy off-white head that has good lacing. The aroma was that of a barleywine style brew. I get plenty of complex fruits.but not much hops on the nose. The flavor is more of the barleywine style, sweet fruits--raisins, dates, plums, with a touch of biter hops and some hot alcohol showing through towards the back end. The mouthfeel is full, smooth and malty. The finish is long and biter-sweet. Overall: I’m guessing that this bottle is well past its prime since its all barleywined-out. I get zero IPA character. As a barley wine however, its quite tasty, and my rating is for that style. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Aug 20, 2009 Copper color with a light tan head. Earthy brown sugar and spicy hop aromas. Medium body. Good flavor is on the sweet side, with candi sugar, floral and fruity hops, with toasted caramel malts. Nicely bitter finish. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Aug 12, 2009 This beer pours very cloudy and dark brown. It has a small but thick tan head. The aroma is delightful with over ripe sweet citrus fruit and pine being prominent. Brown sugar is also noted. Flavor offers a huge sweet malt profile that is sugar and toffee. That sweetness more than offsets what would otherwise be a monstrous hop base. There is very little tartness to those hops but gobs of sweeter citrus and pine. Hops should have been more prominent but this was a tasty beer that is also unique. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 12, 2009 Bottle at PIB. Deep amber with light tan head. Aroma is crazy citrus fruits: tangerine, lemon, grapefruit along with nice pine hops and a solid caramel backdropping. Flavor is big hops of citrus, pine, caramel and toffee malts. Very well balanced and one of the better brews I had at the festival. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2009 [2241-20090606] Sample. Fruity watery citrus aroma with mild toffee flower notes. Hazy, brown amber body with a long-lasting foamy off-white head. Nice rich sugary floral toffee malt flavour. Medium-full body. Quite tasty.
