Doughy malt character. Floral hop flavor. Big bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium - Heavy bodied. Very Balanced. larsga (2959), Oslo, Norway
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2008 Huge offwhite lasting head. Deep amber body. Intense oily hop aroma of citrus and passion fruit. Intense, almost violent, taste of toffeeish burnt almonds and citric passion fruit with minty notes. Some honey as well.. Literally bittersweet. Oily, sticky mouthfeel with considerable alcohol heat. Some chalkiness. Burnt orange aftertaste. Leaves sticky sugar on lips. Powerful, but still definitely drinkable. Complex, and, in some senses of the word, harmonic. Ɛ.25l draft at Nørrebro Bryghus.) presario (2959), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Light but enticing aroma with a hint of sourness. More melon than citrus. Chewy different tasting IPA. Some sweetness. Lots of woody flavour. tarjei (1745), Bryne, Norway

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 8, 2008 Pours a mostly clear, crimson color with a full, creamy, off-white, lasting head; it settles to a creamy, frothy layer and leaves a good amount of sproatic lace. Nose is one of the most intoxicating noses I’ve smelled to date; hops are dominating but certainly not overpowering. Citrus notes of bitter oranges and ruby red grapefruit zest, spicy notes of white pepper, excellent floral notes reminding me of fresh flowers in the spring, and light resinous notes; other notes include biscuity yeast, lightly toasted caramel, hints at toffee, light notes of peaches, and whisps of alcohol. Flavor great but not as intoxicating as the nose; hop notes are still dominant but are balanced by the malt backbone. Bitter oranges and great floral notes dominate with lighter notes of ruby red grapefruit peel, light white pepper, pine resins, light toasty caramel, light toffee, peaches, apricots, faint biscuity yeast notes, hints at smoke, and light dank notes. Bitterness is moderately high, malt notes are moderately light but balancing to the style, but the hop flavors keep this IIPA at the top of my list. Palate is great for an IIPA; prickly at first, soft to lively, medium to full, somewhat chewy, and velvety. Finishes fairly long and lightly dry with bitter oranges, light grassy notes, faint toffee, and a mild warmth. I never thought I would rate an IIPA as high as this but the hop flavors were tremendous to match a good but not overpowering bitterness and somewhat light but balancing malt backbone. Takes some characteristics from an imperial pils and American BW, and still fits the bill for a nice IIPA. To date, one of my favorite beers; complex, innovative, intoxicating, and balanced. It’s hard to imagine that my favorite IIPA would come from Europe but this one surprised me in a great way. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Flavor is full of piney, peppery hops, which are assertive but not overpowering. The alcohol is barely noticeable. Extremely smooth drinking and mellow while being full of flavor at the same time. Very nice! wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2008 Updated: Sep 19, 2008Thick amber-toffee hue with a firm dollop of tan cream. Juicy hop aroma of biting citrus fruits and conifers held back by a wall of caramelized and stewed malts, and even richer sugars. Quietly powerful and surprisingly graceful with big citric hops and a fullish undercurrent of malt; lengthy grapefruit aftertaste, drying. Smooth textured firm body; tight carbonation.
Well constructed and behaved; on the sweet side but not wanting for hops; perhaps lacking some aggression.
