Commercial Description:
North Bridge Extreme is the brewers gift to Anders on the 1 year aniversary for the opening of Nørrebro Bryghus. It is inspired from the South-West Californian triple IPA's. It is brewed on English ale-malt, adjusted with different colormalt and spiced with enourmous amounts of hops. A dark golden extremely bitter ale with a distinct hop aroma.

0.5L bottle pours a perfect clear copper with tall light tan head. The aroma is fairly strong with pine hops mixed with roasted crystal malts and caramelization. The taste begins with a thick and chewy fluid ushering in a big bite of pine and grassy hop bitterness. A wagon load of roasted malts quickly mix in with the hops as well as a bit of caramel candy and later notes of toffee. The blistering pine and grassy hop bitterness just doesn’t let go of the taste experience. This seems similar to Stone’s ABA only bigger, bolder and brasher. YUM!!

Bottle found at State Line Liquors in MD. Poured wiwth a bright orange-reddish color, a tornadic torrent of carbonation and a virtual fortress of pillowy foam. The aroma is as if someone had stuffed some mushy, wet hops up my nostrils, full of odiferous piney oil. This drinks with a big, thick, viscuous slick over the tounge. The astringent hop hammers away at my taste buds with a woodsy, earthy dig. Nice to see such a flavorful brew coming from somewhere besides the Pacific NW USA. Well done. (#3221, 11/26/2007)

Thanks to drmatt for sharing this hard to find IIPA. Pours orange / copper with an off-white head. The aroma has lots of musty malt that makes it seem more like a barleywine than an IIPA. There is also a bit of orange in the aroma. Medium rich body with a good amount of soft carbonation. Starts with sweet caramel, cotton candy, smooth citric hops and smooth malt. The finish is sharp spicy and sour. This was good, but it seemed to have a bit of age on it. Fresh this would probably be fantastic.

a different take on the DIPA. It was quite bitter, yet reasonably well drinkable with lots of food in between sips. Good sized foamy white head. A melange of aroma between alcohol, malt and amarillo and other hops I could not at the time identify. As good as the better American made DIPAs.

500. Thanks, HogFodder! Light nose for an IIPA, with just some pine and earthy notes. Pours hazy copper with a thin white head. The earthy notes persist to the taste. Bittersweet pine finish. This beer is good, but could not possibly be confused with a product of "South-West California."

Ah, indeed, a milestone. # 1000 pours like an old shiney copper penny w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Superb hangtime finally reducing to a clump of creamy batter that just sits there the whole drink. Thick aromas of sweet caramel, aged citrus rind and herbs. Smells like English hops. Full nectar w/ relaxed effers. This is the kind of carbonation you have to suck out of it but it does however produce a pure creamy texture making it all worth while. This beer is huge w/ a mild sweetness factor. A very decadent style that is surprisingly in balanced. Bacon fat rich caramel malts tempered by abrasive tongue numbing citrus rind hops. Robo Hop cuts through the blubber and tosses the wounded to the wolves. Malt Man is just crazy enough to come back and lay a floor of flash hot caramel butter under the unsupectng Robo Hop. The fight ensues with a tug-o-war type scenario. Hop, malt, hop, malt, hop. As always Robo Hop wins out as the brew wanes warms. The finish is long and bitter sweet w/ a mild asprin burn to remember. At this caliber, its one of the most refined DIPA’s I’ve had. Bridge drinks better as it warms allowing more flavor characteristics to shine through. Overall: In the world of extreme IPA’s this one fits the bill well with a defined English character. A nice change from the usual grapefruit landlord.

Bottle from The Cellars in Roseville. Way overpriced for what it was. I would have loved to have this fresh "over there" vs in a bottle over here. Way bitter for me as all I reallly got was a bitter beer face. It wasn’t that bad but I was hoping for more.

Bottle. Clear, rusty gold body with an ample cream-colored head. Nicely alluring tropical fruit and cinnamon aromas with a pleasing sweet malt underbelly. Prominent, sweet caramelized English malt characters. Flavor-wise, the hop profile is somewhat subdued in this version and current state of the beer. Reminds me of something between Hop Devil and 90 Minute. Lacks the assertiveness of a big West Coast DIPA. Good, but not exceptional.
