Pours a clear orange with no sediment and a thick soapy beige head. Nose is phenomenal. Caramelized charred malts with pine, citrus, and floral notes on that base and a slight doughyness around the edges. Caramelized toasted and charred malts are the flavor base with grapefruit, oranges, lemon, tropical, pine and floral notes dancing across my tongue before the hop bitterness comes down. Alcohol is slight but what is detectable is nice. Creamy slick medium body with a soft carbonation. Well done beer, its nice to have a good IIPA, and from Denmark at that. Dog bliver IIPA aldrig min favorit øltype, men dette er dog en rigtig rigtig god fortolkning af den. Fuldt fortjent at den ligger så godt til. OldMrCrow (1191), Seattle, Washington, USA

A very fine beer moment for me. I’ve wanted to try this beer ever since reading the ratings for it when I first joined ratebeer a couple of years ago, but I didn’t know when I’d get the chance. Wonderful to finally get to sample it in its native habitat.
I was not disappointed. It pours a rich red-brown with a nice head into a nice custom glass, a five for appearance if there ever was one! It offers an aroma that is powerful with sweet citrus, but also complex and inviting with bits of tropical fruit and malt aspects that differ from what I’m used to seeing from SoCal.
The flavor is very nice, not falling into the sweet IIPA trap, much in the Green Flash IPA vein, lovely citrus hops (but not that cascade sharpness), warm caramels coming out of the malt. Mouthfeel is thick and rich but I pegged it at about 8.5 not 9.6%, so they’ve done well there as well.
I enjoyed this glass so much. What a treat to finally have visited. MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Clear orange/ruby color with a large head. Aroma of caramel malt and dark fruit. A bit of pine hops in the back, but definitely not preeminant.
br brI’m done with the European IIPA’s! Do you hear me? DONE! $30 bucks wasted on stale European beers. (North Bridge and 100 gram) No more. Do they really want to drag down their ratings by putting out these stale IIPA’s to the US? raymondwave (870), Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Updated: Jan 5, 2008Bottle 0.6 l. Ruby brown/red. Smallish head. Initial aroma is soap, very soapy. Flowery hoppiness ofcourse. Surprisingly smoothly bitter with some sweetness. Candybears. Barleywine comes to mind. Not as good as I thought, but luckily I have a couple of more bottles to revaluate. Re-rate: Same BB12/08. The sharpest sting of hoppiness has worn off already and soapiness is also less detectable. A bit flat, non complex bitterness remains. Still think it’s a bit overrated. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Mahgn with a good offwhite head. Citrus hops attack the nose. Extreme hop bitterness-grapefruit for all the money-noticeable alcohol as well. Shock therapy for the taste buds. tytoanderso (1386), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Bottle. Initial aroma of hops: wet, moist, sticky, piney hops. A good amount of sweet sticky malt to back up the hops. Well balanced aroma. Pours deep, rich amber with copper highlights. Big, rich, rocky off-white head. Sticky lacing all the way down the glass. Very well balanced flavor profile for a IIPA. Dry and floral hops complement the sweet malt quite well. Hides the alcohol well. Rich and creamy on the palate. Almost too well balanced for an IIPA. Nice beer, though.
