COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan. Dark roasted malt, breadish and distinct liqourice. Sweet, roasted, caramel and liqourice flavoured. Bitter and quite hoppy into a medium dry yet roasted finish.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and oats. The flavor is sweet with stong notes of notes of roasted malt and wood as well as medium notes of oatmeal, leading to a bittering hoppy finish.

On tap. Pours completely black and opaque with a creamy light brown head. Lots of hard roasted malts in the nose as well as sweet dried fruit - prunes and raisins. Rather a solid body, again sweetish and pruney with plenty of hard roasted malts, Port and some underying accents of ashes and licorice. Fairly high malt bitterness. Solid indeed. 250111

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. Looking gorgous this one, a dense, tan head of finger thick size sits on top of a black body, leaving lacings as it’s drunk. A pity the aroma and flavor don’t follow up. Not that they’re bad, they’re just not standing out, with roasted malts, chocolate and some dried fruits in the aroma. The flavor has some sweetness, yet it feels quite dry on the palate, chocolate and roasted malts too. Long finish with a roasted malts-like bitterness. Full-bodied and smooth. A pleasant and easy drinking beer that looks drop dead beautiful. 110526
