3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 VTHopHead (1331) - Barre, USA - JAN 16, 2010
Tasting with Shaun Hill at Three Penny Taproom - Pours a pretty golden yellow in color with a pretty big foamy white head that really hung in there to produce lacing on the glass from beginning to end. Quite surprisingly the two component of the blend are fairly identifiable. The Saison portion of the aroma is yeasty with citrus and spices (pepper)... the Lambic portion of the aroma is tart, citrusy and grassy/earthy. Flavor is much more compact with a medium sourness which is not at all overpowering, plenty of earthy flavors to be offset by the sour citrus and other more estery fruits. This is a really good beer... well worth repeating, if I ever get a chance.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Doodler (253) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 3, 2012
Got to try a bottle at Nørrebro Bryghus with Theis. Poured a murky orange body with fluffy white head. Nose is more funky than expected for a saison. Flavor is the same way, Vinous with barnyard brett and funk, and ending with a citrus sourness. Slightly dry and somewhat tart finish. An interesting brew for sure.

bottle... dark gold, a bit or orange, very light tan head, leaves spotty thick head, thick lacing... smells outstanding, funky musky saison, oak, light red wine, a big sweet note... tastes really nice as well but I get mostly the saison despite getting three , very musky, the middle brings about all of the wine, tannic, full, oak, the finish is funky, really complex and fun to drink

A: The beer pours a hazy but bright orange color with a big white head and some sticky lacing.
S: The nose is really very funky. There is a lot of grass as well as oak. A very mild mild wine aroma but plenty of fruit notes, especially apples, pears, and lemon zest. As it warms up, a strong blue cheese character comes out.
T: More blue cheese on the palate with lots of drying, tannic oak. Lightly tart with some lemon and lemon zest flavors. Hints of wine to go with the soft fruit notes, maybe a light grape and peach flavor, a nice citrus, too.
M: Medium in body with medium to high carbonation.
O: Just a fantastic beer. Wish there were more of these around.

Bottle. It’s an unclear, golden-orange beer topped by a finger-thick, white head. Rather mellow and rounded bretty nose with fruityness, lemon notes and some faint vanilla hints. The flavor is sort of sweetish, without being sweet, quite fruity and slightly lemony, with a touch of oak and medium strength acidity. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. A really nice one. A really nice saison. 110513

Bottle shared by Max thanks broski. Pours a hazy golden body with a white head and great retention. Fruity and dry with white wine, green and white grape sweetness. Soft with a nice vanilla tone and funky earth tones. Mild sourness with a funky brett tone. Really brilliant fruit tones of fresh grapes still shine through giving this a great appeal. Aromatically one of the best appeals i’ve ever had the pleasure of. Fantastic.
